This SHOULD be the recommended video for basic bodice because you really make something that at first is intimidating so simple 🫶🏾

I have another question. Using the pattern you created, it has resulted in your top being perfectly fitted at your side bust. So if you add a side bust dart, wouldn’t it be more tighter and way too fitted? I want my bodice to be perfectly fitted only around the bust and loose fitting below the bust. Should I not use the waist dart then?

This series of videos is exceptionally done!! So clear & good teaching skills. Have you ever tried an invisible zipper foot on your machine? For me it made a big difference in helping me sew super close to the zipper teeth & the end result is really good! Keep up the great videos!! These are much easier to listen to & follow than some other block creating videos 👍Excellent job 👏👏

If I wanted to add a liner on the inside of the front, when would I add this in? Before or after the dart? If prior to the dart, and the bottom of the lining ends at the top of the dart. Would I sew the bottom of the lining in with the dart? Or just see the dart in the bodice layer?

If I want it to be more wide fitted? How do I adjust it?
@bodon2306 Жыл бұрын
Great job. Just wondering about cutting the material....you didnt actually mention the concept of "along the bias' or parallel to selvage? Any thoughts ?
@CreatedIAm Жыл бұрын
Hi wonderful! ✨ This is because the material I used (Ankara) doesn't get effected by this too much. I tend to naturally cut vertically or horizontally as opposed to diagonally which means that stretch or fraying is not as much of as problem with a material like Ankara . If your material is effected a lot by how it is cut, maybe because of stretch, then do try to cut along the bias.

Would all of this hold true for making a top for men? Would I still add the darts? Do I need to add to the measurements for a male? (I am trying to make a costume for my son. It needs to be somewhat fitted but not as much as a woman’s top.
@CreatedIAm2 жыл бұрын
Hi! The principles are similar. Men do not need darts though. I hope to make a video on this in the future ✨

Do you have a current video describing how to add a collar and button front, to this basic bodice block? I'm interested in making my own suit jackets, maybe some with a zipper front. I can't buy clothes in a store because I'm tall and no one has a tall womens department.

Hi 🌸 I haven't ventured into this area yet (I would like to) but there's some nice content out on youtube that may help. Blessings.

great video really clearly explained, just one question - what about ease? do I have to add this as I go or is it included in the seam allowance?
@CreatedIAm2 жыл бұрын
Hi ✨! As this pattern is fitted the only place I add ease is at the hip when drafting the pattern, see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3KbYqqQo9SUbpY at time 8:38 . This tends to work for me as the measurements that were taken and used were not tight. I have used this technique on different body types and it worked well. If needed e.g. if I am working with a thicker material/lining, I may add more ease at different spots on the pattern when cutting the material. Hope this helps.

hello ,I try your basic draft which fit perfectly but 1 problem the armhole has a pucker,is it because it's for sleeve only, I love sleeveless,thank you
@CreatedIAm Жыл бұрын
Hi wondeful! Sorry for the late reply. Yes you are correct. For a sleeveless you can use the tightended version of your armsceye measurment.
