Beautifully done tutorial, Patti. Thank you very much! Just a note about the rope you used. It now sells for around $17 for 100 ft.

Yeah, It's not cheap for sure. You can try wholesale rope dealers online.

Thanks for sharing . Try cutting the rope on an angle at the ends they fit better into the roll of the bowls .

I have made two bowls so far I haven’t made this heart as of yet but love it made try it next, I have made two trivia’s and placed embroidery on each of them, it’s hard to fine designs that are not to dense for the rope I’m a beginner, making them for Christmas gifts. Thank you for teaching us.

If you place a small piece of parchment paper over you glue areas that you need to press to ensure contact it wont stick to you or the rope and you wont burn yourself. Also if you put parchment over your over your bucket it wont adhere to it.

Has the pfaff machine held up for you with the rope
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Жыл бұрын
The Phaff is great for the larger zig zags and will certainly hold up but I prefer to do my bowls on my manual machine.

I'm loving your videos! I just found you. In one video I saw you using a crochet hook as you said you can't find a stileto where you are located. I'd love to send you one if I can fine where. Do I send an email?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Жыл бұрын
So glad you found me and you are enjoying my videos! So kind of you to offer to send me a stiletto. I actually have one now. I use the 4 in one tool from Alex Anderson. Unfortunately I must have got a bit too close and hit it with my sewing machine needle and bent the end of it a bit so I don’t recommend that anymore. Better to have something larger like the crochet hook I mentioned so it can’t get under the needle. A big Whoops on my behalf.

Seems you tube doesn't want me to reply! Keeps poofing my comment just as I am ready. Lol on the big Whoops! I am very familiar with those.

Do you use an industrial machine
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Жыл бұрын
No, I showed this bowl using my electronic Phaff because I get a lot of questions on what machine to use. But it is my preference to use my manual machine when sewing rope bowls.

Buffalo brand sash cord is rather expensive compared to the rope available at Walmart. Why do you use it for the rope bowl / basket?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Жыл бұрын
You are right. It is expensive. The Buffalo rope makes a much firmer rope bowl. I find that in Canada the rope in Walmart is not 1/4”. It is a thinner rope and makes for a flimsy bowl.
@catherinereno9744 Жыл бұрын
Have you had any problems using a home machine making rope bowls. See you have a pfaff
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Жыл бұрын
Normally I prefer to do my rope bowls on my manual sewing machine as it is easier to form the sides when the head of the machine is not so big and deep.
