These knot bags are great for shopping or use as a purse. The small version is perfect for your fold up shopping bag, cell phone and wallet.

Many thanks for a wonderful tutorial - that was amazing. It's the first time in 30 years I've sewn anything. After recently inheriting my mother-in-law's 1971 Bernina 730, I thought I'd give it another try. The machine works perfectly but I was a bit worried that I'd forgotten everything I learnt as a child. I'm really proud of my lovely new bag (I made the small one out of an unwanted pillowcase) and very grateful for your tuition Patti. (You took me right back to my Nanna's living room all those years ago, where she used to teach me craft and I just loved to watch her sew)

I don’t sell my patterns. You just watch the video and pause on the pattern sections and copy my measurements and make it for free. I have 3 size options. Thanks for watching!

I came here to see if I could find some help with making these bags. I made a couple but found I was having a large amount of trouble with the triangular side seem piece (where handle meets the bigger bag portion) and dealing with the small handle loop because it wouldn't fit over the machine even with the hardware removed. You dealt with both those issues giving some GREAT advice that I have yet to see. Thank you so much for a great tutorial!! I feel like trying this again now ❤😊

This was very well done ! I just started sewing since covid and I really like your tutorial video. Very detailed , just my style. I want to make one for my mother in law for Christmas. She carries her bag of meds around and this one handle slipping into the other to close is really neat. Being reversible is also great idea. She can have two bags in one 👍👍 . Thanks 🙏🏻 very much for teaching us!!

I love this bag and your instructions are so detailed! I always shy away from tutorials that show how to make your own pattern, but you really explain in great detail and show everything up close. If I wanted to make an over the shoulder in the medium size bag, how long should I make the straps, I like how the large one looked that you showed at the beginning. Thanks for this easy to follow tutorial!!

Glad you found the tutorial easy to follow. For a medium size bag the long strap would be the same as the large bag at 14” and the small strap at 4 1/2”.

Hello Patti, Huge thanks for metric sizes along with imperial. Amazing video with special advices. Will make one bag very soon. What do you think if sewing on a punched pattern for design?
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Glad you liked the video. Just clarifying your question. If your asking what I think about sewing a Japanese knot bag with a punch needle pattern then I would suggest only if you are using the fine punch needles with embroidery thread. The larger Oxford needles and thick yarn would be too bulky for a bag but great for a pillow.

I love this! Question though, can I use the shoulder strap on the medium bag? Going to make this as a gift for someone. I think the medium bag is a good size for her.

That green fabric is prettier on the reverse side. I would do another bag with the reverse side out

That’s the beauty of these bags. They are reversible so you can choose what fabric you want on the outside.

hi patti on the large bag uve got the short handle at 4 and haf inches is that correct? should it be 7 inches half the large handle or is 4 and half inches ok thankyou .gary nicholls
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
@CraftyPattiArtsCrafts Жыл бұрын
If you make the smaller handle 4 1/2” rather than 4” it just makes it a bit easier to pull your large handle through. But 4” is okay too. Just thought it was easier to explain if I mentioned a general rule of the short handle is half the size of the long handle.
