I love how you transferred the dart to the fabric! I’m sitting here wondering why I never thought of doing it that way. Life changing!

I’ve been sewing for a long time and never seen that before either with the transfer of a dart. A light bulb moment for me. Thank you so much. I also love your KZbin instructions - very clear.

Oh my word!!! You are giving me hope with these tutorials! I have been trying to sew a skirt, but even with the best written instructions, I am completely lost. This is a huge help! I downloaded the pattern and I am so making this skirt.

So glad I found you. I'm starting to sew garments for myself (jeans) and looked through lots of other patterns and bought nothing because I knew I would not wear the items often. Thanks for sharing. I'll make and wear this.

This is so cute I just need one below the knees. So cute. I saw Carol Burnette with a beige one on her show and thought it would be nice to make one. I can't even sew!

I have been struggling to make a skirt here for a few months and you posted this video. thank you. I have many questions. 1) How do I adjust the waist? Do I do this with the darts? 2) How do you hem you skirt for length w/o another human? 3) how do you accommodate for the fact that the back needs more length because of having a rump? thanks
@SoSewEasy10 жыл бұрын
pristinabread Usually to adjust the waist you would take in the side seams a little bit. Assuming its OK at the hip, pin everything in place and try it on (before you add the waistband), then pinch the extra fabric on the sides and pin until you get a good fit. Make the line nice and smooth. Then baste in place with big stitches and try on again to be sure of the fit before sewing with the machine. Note how much you moved the side seam and adjust the waistband by the same amount. For getting a straight hem without help, get a piece of string and 2 thumb tacks Cover the string in chalk and then pin it between a door frame at the height where you want your skirt to come. Stand next to the string and use it to make a light chalk mark all around the bottom of the skirt and you'll get a hemline which is parallel to the floor all the way around. Press, pin and try on again to be sure before sewing. Hope this helps.

Like you, I'm not a fan of hand sewing, so your technique to see the waistband is brilliant. I'm just finishing a pair of casual trousers, and was not looking forward to whip stitching the waistband, now I don't have too. 👍

Hello. Thank you for the tutorial. What type of fabric did you use?
@SoSewEasy9 жыл бұрын
Onika Harris The blue and the natural colored were both made with a linen. The blue is a little heavier and more crisp than the natural one, both do very well for this pattern and hold the crease well.
