Lather, Rinse,Repeat used to be taught in the barbershops I frequented as a very young man. I thought everyone knew this. My mistake. Thank you, yet again, Classic Grooming.

I am 55 with all of my thin white hair intact. Luckily the hairline has not receded😅. I shower in the AM and in the PM I spray my hair with water and a little Clubman hair tonic to comb out the JS Sloane pomaded in my hair. For my morning shower I use Clubman Shampoo for 4 days with each shower doing 2 lathers/rinses and then letting a 3rd lather sit on my hair while I wash up the rest of my body. Then (at least in the summer) for the other 3 days of the week I use Woody's Shampoo (a nice orange citrus scent) with Woody's Menthol Conditioner (separate bottle). In the Fall/Winter I will keep the Clubman in rotation and use Old Spice Swagger (Scent of Cedarwood) Shampoo and Conditioner separate in place of Woody's.

How often would you recommend somebody with curly/way hair to use shampoo? Right now I use conditioner everyday and twice a week I'll shampoo. I also use Jeris (without oil) hair tonic daily as my styling product.

That's a tough call, because I don't know how long your hair is, how much oil your scalp makes, or how dirty your hair gets from your job/daily activities. If you find your hair to be manageable (you're able to get the style that you want) relatively soft and clean to the touch (and smell), then twice a week is fine. I'm guessing the conditioner is a spray-on? Wash-in conditioner every day would seem a little overkill to me, but every head of hair is different.

@@classicalgrooming My hair is about 3 inches long on top and tapered short on the sides. It never gets oily or dirty. Also the conditioner is a wash-in one. How often should wash-in conditioner be used?

@@CNJRailfan Wash-in conditioner is generally used to smooth out the hair follicle after a shampoo. So the rule of thumb is only after shampooing your hair, which in your case is 2x week. Your experience may vary.

what do you think of shampoo brushes?

They sound like a great idea for scalp health! I looked into the matter a little bit and there's no conclusive evidence that they do anything extra beneficial, but I don't think that they can hurt. Thanks for mentioning them!
