Oh my lord. You are the ONLY person I've watched who actually mentions the curling of the nails as they grow out. Trying to grow my nails out long and square was always impossible because they would just curl in.

I've read somewhere that for most natural looking nails you should aim to match the free edge shape to your cuticles and for me that somewhere between oval and soft square. Love your videos, I'm learning so much from them

Before getting rid of them, try a more rounded shape if you care for any of them. I’ve always had squoval nails but have been trying almond/oval shapes. Now it’s easier to have them as long as I like without them really getting in the way like squoval nails. Just a suggestion ☺️

I find the one's I personally like best are the oval, and the soft square shape. I have been learning how to use Polygel on my nails. I've watch as many videos as I can on how to file nails, how much Polygel to use, how to paint nails, and how to decorat nails etc. It's way more challenging to do it but like everything, if I practice I will improve in time. I have found that using my less dominant hand is really challenging, but it's already improved and I have only done two sets of Polygel nails. They looked really amazing, even though I did them myself. I absolutely love polygel nails, they look totally amazing when they are on my hands.

Is it okay to saw back and forth? I was told it was bad for your nails cause it the sawing motion breaks down the strength of the nail and causes splitting and tearing
@stardustfactory83117 ай бұрын
The finer the grit, the less it matters. It’s when the grit chunks leave tiny splits that it matters but if your grit or smoother, the rocks are smaller. So they sand & polish instead of tear. Hope it makes sense

This was such a helpful video!!!! I've found when filing my nails I always get those little corners and I had no idea how to fix it, I thought maybe i was holding my file wrong :C But it turns out it's just a result of filing!! I just have to file my nails from below to get rid of those!!! Which isn't helpful for me now, because my nails are really really short (I accidentally broke them... long story) but I will definitely take these instructions with me when they grow out again :D

I have a strong natural C curve, I always worry I will lose structural integrity, even with overlay, if I file them into more pointed shapes. So I generally have square nails that naturally look slightly tapered. I need to get more adventurous, sure they'll grow back if it doesn't work 🤣 Bookmarked for future use, thanks!
@SamMKKK3 жыл бұрын
On my nails, it depends. Filing/buffing the nail (as opposed to just the tip) and leaving it with nail polish almost always results in breakage for me. They don’t usually break when covered with nail polish though.

These aren’t ‘natural nails’ tho. Once any kind of overlay goes on, the structural integrity of the nail is 10x’s that of an actual natural naked fingernail. All of that filing would destroy a real nail. Just curious but why is all of the underside and sidewalls of the nails always filed away?
@ianlobodocky48673 ай бұрын
It’s still a natural nail babe, just with an overlay. She don’t add a tip. She didn’t extend what wasn’t there. She used her natural length with a base cost on it to shape it that is a natural nail overlay. Only time it’s not natural is when it’s formed out or a tip is on it then it is an enhancement. Idk why people think just because you put product on your nail it means it’s “not natural” it’s still her natural nail under the product not a tip or form so therefore yes it is a natural nail.
@modaciouslav47923 ай бұрын
@@ianlobodocky4867 well babe, u can reword the same thing over and over but its still not a natural nail. It’s just your opinion that lack of a tip qualifies as a natural nail still. That’s literally just ur opinion yet your lecturing me as tho it’s a straight up fact. If someone gets acrylics but not a super long tip added, after a few fills, and the nails cut down most of that tip is going to be gone if not all of it. Does that mean that somebody has natural nails since the tip is gone, no.. and I’m not knocking wearing overlays of some sort or biab. I’ve been doing my own nails with biab for about a year now
