Hi Jeff, I use the same method of sharpening as you, as you demonstrated this is one of the best ways to keep an edge on your knives, ain't nothing more danderous than a dull knife, people use force to make a cut, and when you lose control, that knifes going to cut you real bad, a sharp knife ,you don't have to force, and the job goes easy, thanks for the video Jeff, stay safe, preciate ya'll, Stuart.uk.

Jeff, this is the same knife I have carried for many years. Case 2 blade yellow trapper. Mine looks about like yours. Well used and SHARP. Just goes to show that country boys don’t need tactical knives for what we are doing. I don’t know how many “ mall ninjas” I’ve seen with knives so dull you couldn’t cut hot butter with. Keep it up.

Hello from Western PA. Love that you use a Case xx knife. My dad always carries a case and bought me my first case when I was young. Also... neat tip on using the top of an open window to hone down the edge. never heard that one before. I should get myself a rod. My dad always has one hanging close when we bone out deer. I should have one in the kitchen like you have. Although, my wife tends to nail herself when it comes to using kitchen knives that are as sharp as they should be. :-(

Very nice video. You and Hannah are a delight. I have a collection of Arkansas stones and knives. Never reach into a sink of soapy water in my house or you'll get cut. In US, we sharpen at 20 degree angle. Japan uses 15 degrees. Know when it needs a new edge. Had Case xx for years and really prefer Schrade USA for good carbon steel. Don't hand me some China made stainless steel knife and tell me you want that junk sharpened.

@robertwebb27214 жыл бұрын
I have trouble holding the blade at a consistent angle so I use a Lansky with a series of stones. The Lansky uses a jig so I can’t mess up the angle. After I’m done with the stone, I use a strop. The strop will make the edge look like a mirror and it seems to hold the edge much longer. Thank you for the videos! You sir are what every American should strive to be like.

Those stones and oil bath are what most butchers used to keep their knife sharp...run about 2 hundred dollars now..Once sharpen we just use a steel to touch it up now and again...for about 6 to 8 months with out sharpening. I see Memphis net and Twine still carries them for sale..well worth it. Since a lot of us sharpen that way..how about a manufacture selling some that way..bucks are worst for me to grind down. Another great video ! Cheers from Alaska !
