Thank you so much for coming up with this sharpen tool. I have scissor that won't cut anymore, and it's hard to find someone to sharpen them. Now I can do it myself.

I absolutely love my mk2! These videos are a huge help and a great addition to the booklet that comes with it. I had purchased a Spyderco Sharpmaker about 6 months ago and it just didn't get my knives as sharp as I would have liked. I thought that buying this machine would be a hassle but it's not that loud, it's compact, portable and very easy to use. Now I just use the Sharpmaker to touch up serrated knives as it fits perfectly in the notches.

I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

Good video. I sharpen at a farmers market. I see all those tools but the auger on any typical day. A trick I've learned for sharpening small clippers where the sharpener cannot get to the whole blade. I take the belt off, turn it inside out and put it back on the sharpener. I can get into even the sharpest angle on clippers. This only works for me using the 1/2" belts on the Mk1, perhaps it would work on the Mk2 - haven't gotten one yet.. I don't recommend using this method on any but the most difficult access tools. There is a possibility that extended use could wear the machine or the rollers.
@N0BEAR3 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing that the work sharp holds up fairly well to consistent (almost industrial) use like you described. Would you agree with that?
@normanblack95023 жыл бұрын
@@N0BEAR Yes, But I've learned that I need to have more than one one the table to sharpen. With the Ken Onion model I have 3, each with a different grit belt. That way I am not having to take time to switch belts and most importantly no one machine gets over used. I've burned up two machines since I was running them non stop for hours at a time. Now, no problem, I've been using the same 3 for many months. I do have another new one still in the box as backup. I also have the knife making attachment and have used that a lot. But I have to be careful not to over use it since it runs continuously. Whereas the Ken Onion is pulsed.
@normanblack95023 жыл бұрын
@@N0BEAR A qualified Yes. But I've burned up 3 units learning that continuous use will hurt them. Thant is why I now have 4 units on the table. No one unit is overused. When I note that I've used one KO too much I trade off. Especially if there is a lot of work for the unit attached to the knife shaping attachment. That unit gets turned on and is in constant use when a knife needs to be repaired. . Verses the other units which all are "pulsed" when used. I may make further refinements in usage as time goes on. For right now I haven't ruined any units through over use in several months.

Can you sharpen wood chisels with this devise? If so, how would you do that. Thanks for the video. It was very helpful.
@WorkSharpOutdoor3 жыл бұрын
Good question - We make a wood tool sharpener called the WS3000 which is specifically designed to sharpen chisels and hand planes. I don't recommend the Mk.2 for chisels because the belts are flexible and create a convex edge rather than a flat grind like you find on chisels.
@bigbawls813 жыл бұрын

@harveybeekerthegreysquirre82623 жыл бұрын
I'm sure just a little narrower like the 6000 grit belt is 1/2"×12" vs the 3/4"×12" for the standard Ken onion belts

One question can the mark 2 sharpen a sword that has a blunt edge?
@WorkSharpOutdoor2 жыл бұрын
You can resharpen a blade that large with the Mk.2 but if you're looking to grind in a new edge from blunt you would need something larger like a 2x72 grinder.
