Kaleb, nice shave a very informative video. I have the Drakkant razor. It's wonderful! A viewer informed me about the 24° angle and referred me to this video. I have a better understanding now. However, I really didn't feel much difference between a 30° angle and a 24° angle. All I know is, the Drakkant delivers a really wonderful shave and it's very intuitive in finding the proper angle of approach. But, now that I've watched this video, I'm going to be a little more aware of my shaving angle. I still think it's in the 30° ballpark. And,as you say, it's only a matter of about 5°. Bottom line, the Drakkant delivers a wonderful shave.

Thank you. This explains what I was doing wrong with my Kopparkant. My last shave with it was excellent!

Plastic wilkinson sword is the same way, my beard grows almost parallel to my skin and that thing cuts some of them lenghtwise no joke. Disposables are quite similar too. I used to cut the safety bar on them before I switched to safety razors

Great video! Thank you! This will be very helpful when I do my first shave with my Drakkant (just got the shipping notice, so it’s on its way)! Also, we have seemingly similar faces (hope you’re not weirded out by that statement - just meaning in terms of jawline shape and stuff), so your tips will come in handy. Thanks and be well! 👍

When you change razors at approx. the 4:40 time stamp you note you are switching to a Karve Overlander. Was it an Overlander or a CB? The Overlander has a "normal" 30 +/- degrees rather than a shallow angle like the Drakkant or Karve CB.
@aylsworthshaves87172 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes. The Overlander is used in this video as an example of the more traditional 30 degree shave plane. The Drakkant is used as an example of a more shallow 24 degree shave plane.

Looking good Kaleb! Will the new look stick around for the summer? Great tips on shallow angle shaving, cannot wait to get my hands on this razor, everything about it from the weight, gap, blade exposure and angle sounds right in my wheelhouse. Have yourself a great day Kaleb!!

Thanks Jmac! Not sure if the new look will stick around (wife prefers the locks, so I think I'ma try and grow em back asap lol). And your razor is coming very soon!. Just sent out a batch this morning and expect the rest of this first wave to go out by mid week at the latest :)

I watched this video because I've learned the effectiveness of shallow-angle-shaves. Nice looking razor. Disappointed, I can't determine from their website where these are made.
@aylsworthshaves8717 Жыл бұрын
The 316 stainless and Ti are made in USA. The brass are made in China.

How does your razor compare to the Karve in efficiency and smoothness, let's say with the C plate?
@aylsworthshaves87172 жыл бұрын
The Traveling Shaver actually did that exact head to head on his KZbin channel! But I would say that the efficiency is about exactly the same as the CB C plate, and the smoothness is a little higher with less blade feel than the C plate.

Alot better than the C plate. The C plate is downright uncomfortable sometimes. This one accomplishes what the C plate set out to do

IMO referring to the Merkur et al as being "traditional" is a misnomer. Remember the Gillette old variants, the Techs etc?
@aylsworthshaves8717 Жыл бұрын
Traditional native 30 degree angle. Not tradional or vintage razors (for distinction) Cheers!
