Good video. I’ve always wondered how the cone mechanism worked in my early holden banjo diff. I didn’t actually know they could be shimmed. Mine slips a lot so might be worrying trying.

Ahhh yeah they I do by feel it's something that you get the feel for after a while so it's hard to explain..

Just done this mod this today to trial before a go truetrac, see how long it lasts. I Used a 1.48mm washer Seems perfect, roughly doubled the amount of effort needed to spin a wheel with 1 wheel on the ground and another raised (slipping the lsd by hand). Drove it today for about 1 hour and felt well behaved, almost could say it feels like a brand new diff. I haven't tried skidding or abusing it yet so will update in a lil while about how long it lasts.

@@ghostrider852 I bought mine with a VY cradle, a mate and I fitted it in a VT sedan over night in a back yard, by the time the kids woke up it was on the ground running and driving again. VT exhaust will need to be swapped for a VY system if you go down that road. The VY system has an extra bend to clear the toe arms

Can't weld them unfortunately either go a full spool or shim it up like I've done in this video

Borg Warner diffs suck. Been there done that. Depending on how hard on things you are, It'll work for awhile, then.. back to one leg peg. 😁👍

If you built them correctly, no, usually just the clutches that wear out, like most lsd diffs, 80 series LSD is the worst LSD's ask me how i know loll

they're pretty good for what they are. What this guy is doing is not how you should shim a diff. He is shimming the spring, which does very little. It might 'feel good' by hand but will just wear out the cones very quicky. Properly rebuilt and shimmed properly, they last a long time and are very strong for straight line racing and street work. They are just not good for dohnuts or basically circuit racing type driving where you force them to slip under load.

Buy yourself a torsen diff centre . You can get cheapies or an eaton thats pretty pricey . I like my torsen centre in my m78 . Works just like a normal diff until you want it to lock up then sideways it is . The borgies are shit .

NO! i was told to come & have a look at this for a laugh; & i did! ANGRY DIFF! I would be angry if someone was shoving washers in my back end! PLEASE DONT!!!!! do this. & amoung a heap of other things I like your dial indicator. I'm not trolling; honestly this diff is on its wave to becoming scrap metal.
