I moved from California to Indy 30 years ago and the driver from the moving company showed me that if you stuff the mug or glass with newspaper, they never break. Our entire kitchen made it the 2,500 miles without a single break. I will add this to your excellent method. Thanks !!

@@commonwealthflipper it won’t since (well at least the example you showed us) it ended up being 15.6 oz. with the newspaper I don’t see it being more than 16 oz on the dot.

Since watching this video a few months ago when I just started, I've shipped out about 10 mugs this way. Sometimes I have to use a 5x5x5 inside of a 6x6x6 because it was a bigger mug. But this works great and I've gotten good feedback on my packing. Thanks!

"The post office needs it under 13 oz" For clarity, if you buy directly from USPS the weight is 13oz. If you buy postage from ebay you get 16 oz and you won't be charged for going over 13 oz. Just had a mini heart attack when you said 13 oz and had to do a little google fu. :D

I would just bubble wrap and then wrap scrap cardboard around the bubble wrap. That way it would not break in a bigger box. So you could just cut free and save on the inside box.

I can see that your package weighs 15.6oz, but have you ever had an issue with the post office's scale overweighing? I know I've weighed packages with my own scale (which is accurate within .1 of an ounce) and then on the receipt from the post office after they weigh it, it'll be a few tenths over, and that could be the difference between being under a pound or not. I know USPS always advises rounding the weight up, but that can cost a lot of money.

Why not just charge a 2-pound priority rate? You are automatically insured against damage for $50. Having shipped thousands of mugs, I do not want to risk receiving negative feedback from a buyer who receives a broken mug - just to save the buyer $3. The buyer prefers receiving their purchase unbroken to saving three dollars.

I may not need 440 and up but you never know what comes your way. Please advise. Also lots more bubble wrap wouldn't it help with coffee cups just by doubling up on it or put more inside the cups and around it.

Great content. Thanks. I have been searching for a good way to ship glassware. I have been stuffing bubble mailers with glassware in them into a box. Do you think that bubble wrap inside the cup would help even more ? Can you do a video on a tour of your cabin? It is pretty impressive. Hello to everyone, from Northern Michigan.
@carolann13203 жыл бұрын
If you can get them cut up pool noodles are good for breakables. You can slice them into circles, slice long ways and use as a buffer between pieces and also along sides of box. I think it would be cheaper than padded envelopes. I also wrap everything in tissue paper first then use two pieces of bubble wrap.

I've been using the fomo method for mugs, especially the bigger ones and have had good success. I dont have these size boxes so ill probably keep doing that untill I can buy more supplies.
@gk-wu2zj3 жыл бұрын
Unless you’ve got something else in the box that might rattle and smash around, I see no benefit to stuffing the interior of the cup. You’re protecting the mug from external impacts.
