Great video Sheila. I really liked some of the extra attention to detail you give you fish when preparing them for shipping! I just wanted to add a little information I found out through my local post office this winter. I don’t ship fish but I did have a fish shipped to me this winter. Apparently, if you write “live fish” on the outside of the box, the post office delivery person cannot drop the box off at your door if no one is home to receive it. They will return it for pickup back at the receiver's local post office. I think this info could be important to anyone sending fish to colder areas during the winter.

How well does guppy fry pack ship? I would assume most would die of hunger in transit after 2days? But I never tried to, what's your experience? Thank you.

We had no issues with ours however they were several weeks old, so well fed and a good size.

@@Lifewithpets72 I'm contemplating shipping 3trio. -1trio adult guppy per bag for three bag(ship medium flat rate box priority). Or 1fish per bag, = 6 individual bag. (Ship large flat rate priority) The larger cost more but, which is maximum survival rate? And or is bagging individual bags a little too unnecessary? 3-5days, give or take 1Extra day. California to Hawaii. Thank you!!

We shipped 3 to a bag and fasted for 24 hours before shipping. We rarely ever lost a fish. There is no way I’d ship fish in the current climate unless it was overnight shipping. Shipping delays are awful. We ship a lot of packages ever week and currently have packages (not fish) stuck in transit for weeks, they arrive but are taking a ridiculously long time. I’d google usps shipping delays if you’re not aware of them.

I didn't wash gravel before putting it in the tank. Is it harmful or toxic?? Also, my water is really cloudy from all the plant substrate. Will that settle down??

Erika's Life No, it is not toxic. Your water is cloudy because you did not wash the gravel. It should settle.

Shipping regular priority mail during the extended delivery times can be risky and not advisable. We are only shipping fish priority express which is 1- 2 days shipping.

how many Corrys and platys can I keep in a 10 gallon tank

Albine Vids v I wouldn't recommend Platys for a ten gallon they can get pretty large. but you could possibly keep 3 of them. and corydoras are a schooling fish so you need a least 4 to 6 of them which is too many for a 10 gallon unless you get Pygmy corydora which you could get alway with in a 10 gallon. You could do 3 Corrys and one platy. You would be pretty full stocked but it’s do able. Remember an inch a gallon.

Great video. One thing you should add to the box is a Live Fish/Live Animal sticker. In my experience posties are generally more careful with boxes that say Live Fish/Live Animal in the.

The air is not the issue when shipping but the ammonia build up in the bags, that is why we add the poly filter. Guppies don’t breathe from the surface so the movement in the bag creates what is needed for oxygen. The longest ours have been in transit is 4 days due to a delay but they still arrived safely.
