Shipped a golf club today for $50 and I had my own box and that was the cheapest ground option with free $100 insurance. I thought $50 was outrageous lol…which brings me to your videos. Wish I had seen before I went to UPS

Oh no! Always check pirateship.com and NEVER ship anything and pay postage at the post office, ups, or fedex! Rates always marked up there.

What is your game plan for sets of irons with maybe 8 clubs?

In the 6x6 box I listed you can actually put them end to end to balance the box and all fit in the one box as well. I wrap each club head in bubble wrap and stretch wrap or tie together so they don't rub and be loose.

I am new to reselling and I am shipping 2 light sabers, they are around 36 inches long. I’ve only shipped thru usps.. is it better to ship bigger items thru ups? If so, does the weight and stuff matter like with usps? Any help is greatly appreciated thank you

Yeah with the new usps length surcharges it is a lot cheaper to ship them with UPS or fedex. Ups charges more by the size of the box than the weight but just plug everything into ebay or pirateship and it will show you the cheapest options. Congratulations on the sale!

No. The price shown on ebay is the price you pay.

Make sure to trim down your boxes ~0.5" or so because many of the 4/6x48" boxes are actually a hair over 48" length (48" is the inside length) and you will get hit with the 49" length rate.

USPS killed shipping golf clubs. Gotta order some of those 48" boxes. And definitely need to revise some calculated shipping.

Just a thought, could we use the free USPS boxes and wrap them in brown wrapping paper? A roll of wrapping paper is roughly $2.

You *can*, but its against the law to use priority packing supplies for non priority shipments and you can get in big trouble. I'd just buy the boxes.

Would you recommend to cut down the priority boxes in half to make a long box? Thanks for the info, I recently shipped a gold club USPS after the regular rate and they hit me with the $15 up charge. Had to get it out so I wouldn’t take a bad review. Also, could you use a USPS box and shop UPS ground?

I would not use usps boxes for anything over 29" any longer since it is so much cheaper to use ups now. Also people do use usps boxes and ship ups but it is against the law and not worth saving the $1-2 on a box that you could have bought and used. I do have links in the description to the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon at about $2 a box.

@@DanaInvests it is definitely not against the law to ship an item through UPS using a USPS marked box. As long as there are no USPS mailing labels and such on the box, and the UPS mailing label is clear, present, and prominent.

Thank you for this video, I have a question. There must be a difference in the shipping price for UPS Ground if you are shipping from say California to Arizona VS California to Maryland.?

Yes there can be a difference by how far it is going but it will still be significantly cheaper via ups ground now vs USPS. I shipped a club from AZ to Florida Wednesday for $12.89 and USPS was $32.56 (roughly).

What if the buyer had a P.O. Box as address? It then can only be shipped be USPS, correct?

Yeah unfortunately. In that case try to get the buyer to give you a different address or pay the shipping

That's possible, but would still be oversized so wouldn't save you any cost and I would guess some buyers would not be happy with the reassembly required. If you wanted to do that I'd just make sure to state it in your listing. Thanks for the question and watching the video!

If you are reusing a USPS tube, do they still charge the $15?

They charge whatever the rate is plus the length surcharge regardless of using your own box or the usps tube. Ups is still the cheapest 99% of the time.

Thanks for the video, how do you list shipping in ebay and does your buyer pay shipping or do you offer free shipping when selling golf clubs.

I generally list as free shipping knowing it will cost me roughly $9-15 max with the ups shipping. If I was charging shipping I'd charge like $9.99 and bake it into the price (buyers don't like seeing $20 shipping on a club)

I just sold a golf putter that I had it for so long. It is a nice putter that I’m sure many people want it but the crazy price for shipping that USPS is charging it’s just nuts , This customer is paying over $27 for shipping for that 37 inch USPS 2 lb box I need to change that set up. I like your set up much better. 👍

Why not use the free USPS box and ship it via UPS. UPS does not care what boxes things are in.

Because you can be fined and face misdemeanor charges if you are caught doing so. Not worth the risk.
