The best advice here for videographers was at 3:30. I've lost many shots before trying to adjust exposure to make it look perfect. Unless you can't see anything at all, just capture the action. You can always adjust it in post production, or find some creative way to use it during editing. Remember, it's b-roll. It doesn't have to be perfect all the time. Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Hello dude, nice tutorial, did you use any lighting setup aside from the one for the interview?
@rokkerin10 жыл бұрын
Slavic that's a great tutorial. Lots of very useful visual tips but what about the audio? Where's the ambient sound? Why is there this habit of laying wall to wall music over the whole edit? I was always taught to use music to accentuate, add atmosphere, introduce a new sequence or provide a counterpoint. My opinion is that removing the sound also takes away from the reality of a situation and that editing to a music track homogenises and belittles the actuality of the subject matter. But really useful visual tips. Thanks

Outstanding! Especially the captions explaining how you were using the "B" roll. Just one question.......why did you have the subject looking right into the camera during the interview?
@minnfilms9 жыл бұрын
Jerry Roe I like the kinds of responses I get when I'm hidden behind the camera, and I think it's more engaging to the viewer. But more practically, it allows me to operate the camera/audio and interview at the same time, without having another person in the room.

+Slavik Boyechko I tried this and people criticized me for it, so it's comforting to know others are using this technique too.

Excellent tutorial! Wish I saw this sooner, I just wrapped up an interview project.. Needless to say, it could've been better with this information! How do you go about your interviews and making the interview flow?
@brand0nized10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the affirmation! That is what I'm doing now. I actually print it out with time codes and rearrange it like a puzzle! I think I just need to get the hang of asking the right questions that will provoke the right answers. It seems the interview I'm getting from my subjects don't flow together very well.
@brand0nized10 жыл бұрын
One more question for you, the last project I did, I showed my client a rough cut, and they decided they wanted more information in the interview, so I went back to do an extra one, except the tone of her voice didn't match (the first one she was more soft, and the second was more rushed), do you have any tips on directing your subject without making them feel like they're forcing out what they're saying?
