How to Shoot Like Laine - Part 2
This is part 2 of how to shoot like laine - where we talk about another shot he often uses that we call "The Kick Shot". We talk about the mechanics behind why, and how to use it a little differently than his other shots.
Guys, let me know what you think! I'd love your feedback on this video. And please reach out and connect with me by email: jason@train2point0.com
Or on Insta where I post a ton of short slow motion videos and my thoughts: @train2point0
Would love hearing from you. Thanks for watching.

Laine doesn't get enough credit for how good he is on the Jets. This shot is lethal and should be in everyone's tool box.

I know a kid who shoots just like this when he cuts to the middle and he scores a TON from it. Also, I am a HUGE fan of your videos amazing job, keep it up.

Laine also uses a longer stick compared to others, I also use a longer stick and I find I get better leverage like you mentioned in the video, I get a quicker release and more power with a longer stick even if it’s the same flex as the shorter stick.

feel your movment as an experiment, and you test these movment hypothesis, and then you do whats called "feel your body learning" ...... great advice! ("and if you can get teh right feeling pluss consisten results....")

When he shoots is the puck coming off his blade or it’s staying on there all the time
@Train2point0

Think about it this way - the puck is never glued to your stick. Why? You're on ice, glue doesn't work on ice. No, the puck doesn't stay on his blade. So the reframed question is, how do you shoot like Laine? Rotation, Dropping your Hips, not using your hands but using your Shoulders, comparing your film to his film, etc. ;) -Coach Mason

For his kick shot release you sweep.

When he shoots it comes off in a sweep (uses the whole blade) but he still snaps it. Hopefully this helps.

To shoot like Laine, first you need to be 6'4" / 194cm long. Second, you need to weight 209 lbs / 95kg with low fat percentage. Third, you need strenght. He bench pressed 130kg at age of 17. You can learn a good shooting technique (which Laine has) but you also need the physical side too to really shoot like him.

I agree with this Laine or thinking. I mean line of thinking. Maybe except the body fat percentage. But I get what you’re saying (muscle mass).
@Stresside
@Stresside 6 жыл бұрын
Train 2.0 - Jason Yee With low fat percentage I meant just that high muscle mass which you mentioned. Average man with bodyweight of 95kg probably has 25-30% fat, but as an NHL player it's closer to 10-15%.
