Thank you so much for all these details and steps. I have to film some interviews at a rooftop bar, impromptu, fun ones with everything stationed with lights, and all of this video's info is about to help us! Question: where is the option to have the bokeh/blurred effect, especially for vlogging. Do you have a video about this topic? Thanks in advance and have a good night.
@HappyWalkingTour7 ай бұрын
Great video. But the part about anti flicker was very brief. I keep getting flickering led lights on auto anti flicker. Tried 50 and 60 hz setting but was also unsuccessful. Can you elaborate? Thanks.
@VicBarry7 ай бұрын
It’s one or the other. The other option you could try is making sure you’re in the correct frame rate either 50p or 60p etc

I dropped my ZV1 about a month ago. The audio is all screwed up with that camera now. I shoot all of my tutorials now (all those dark astro videos) with the pocket 3 now. The low light capabilities for me are just awesome. Cheers from down under ;)

In a region where the power is 50Hz and artificial lighting use whole number multiplication or division for frame rate.

Does the DJI Pocket 3 do decently at night in street light in low light mode? I am also interested in the focus on people's faces. Unfortunately, a mirrorless needs a gimbal which is quite bulky. A phone that films better, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, also needs a gimbal both when filming and standing still, especially if you are walking.
@VicBarry7 ай бұрын
It's a lot more decent than you'd think to be honest, and definitely better than an iPhone 15 Pro Max in low light, for video

Here folks, is the brutal truth! Knowing in general where to start seems to be critical, then dial 'er in till your lucky guesses become less lucky and more dependable. I'm helping someone learn how to use this unit now. I love it and love the HOPE; its actually pretty easy to use, but, right now; thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers. Hey Vic! First off - Thanks for making such an awesome and helpful video. I'm kind of new to Vlogging and decided to jump in by purchasing a Pocket Osmo 3! I'm super excited - I leave to LA for a concert and plan on vlogging the entire trip! A lot of my filming will be in areas that are indoors in low light since the sun sets so early, (Mostly restaurants and museums and such) I will NOT be editing post production and I want to give my editor the best raw footage possible. I've played around with some of the settings and wanted your opinion! I plan on shooting in 4k 50 frames EV Exposure at 1/50 with Iso anywhere from 400-800 in D-Log M Sharpness at -2 and Noise Reduction at -2 Want to know if I'm maybe missing something or if i should adjust these micro settings for optimal raw quality. Or should I just scrap this entirely and just shoot in Auto Low - Light :)

Amazing content Vic. As you said you need to practice and do it to discover what works for you and the footage filmed.
@VicBarry Жыл бұрын
100% James :) And given that the Pocket 3 is so small and straight forward enough to use then it's easier to practice :)

Great set of points, Vic, particularly the white balance issue. Strange how some cameras, even from the same manufacturer react differently - my Air 3 is a champ, nailing WB at night shockingly well. To be fair, artificially lit scenes at night are technically not "low light" the way dusk or blue hour on an unlit beach is. It prefer to think of this as night photography, but either way, the Pocket 3 does an amazing job! PS: I like the ISO range limiter on the OP3, when you dial it in right!
@VicBarry Жыл бұрын
Thank you :) Yeah, you're also at the mercy of whatever lights are around as well, and they absolutely destroy any footage ;)

Is 60 frames necessary to reduce flicker? I did a test and found the least noise in 24, but had to bump the shutter speed up to cancel the flicker in LL. Thanks!

I used an alternate version of the original pocket a palm or something, anyway I loved it but it died after a fair bit of abuse. Since then Ive tried various cameras to shoot my channel content with some like some not, but for what I do the pocket 3 looks pretty awesome, I'm close to diving in but first I'll sub and binge watch your tutorials cheers mate.

Great video. 👍👏 The guys that have "use these settings" in their thumbnails drive me crazy. There's no magic setting that works everywhere all the time. There are a lot of good "try starting here" settings but nothing works everywhere all the time! I'm probably going to get one of these but the wait time is too far out for my schedule. Thanks for sharing, this was very well done.

ISO more than 1600 is not good. At 1600 you can record in super dark areas. Add a little denoiser and the results are amazing. ISO 800 works in many semi-dark city areas.

Using pocket 2 i have hard tike with iso 1600 when i am recording some shop led screens are unreadable i need to put iso 800 to be readable but not video led they are still overexposed .But even some mirrorless cameras have problem with that Anyway pocket 3 is just spectacular

what's the battery runtime at 4k60 ?
@_Ziyi6 ай бұрын
I just did a recording at 4K, 50fps, 1/200 shutter at 1600 iso in D Log M mode, with the screen set to never turn off and the display at 25% brightness, which I could see fine outdoors on a bright but overcast end of June day. I stopped recording at 85 minutes (that's 1 hour and 25 minutes), and I still had 28% battery life left over. I was at a gig and had the gimble set to keep a level horizon, and I rarely did any manually controlled panning and did zero zooming. I moved very little other than some minor headbanging and bopping my head to the music. Also, because I wasn't walking around, the camera gimble didn't need to rotate too much; however, because it was hand-held, it was constantly making small corrective moves the entire time. So while that's not 4K at 60fps, I hope that helps anyone who is after an answer to your question. Just to note: because I used manual mode, the camera disables the anti-stutter option, so there are no auto, 50, or 60 fps anti-stutter modes to choose from. So then it's all down to the user to check the display to see if you're getting banding and then adjust the framerate to suit the electrical lighting in your location. I'm literally brand new to video recording and barely any photography other than point and click. I've literally only had this camera for one day after ordering it two days ago, but this is one of the issues I came across, not knowing there was no auto anti-stutter setting available in manual mode until after trial and error.

Terrible light bloom ruins many shots with light. Any work around? Low light video setting helps but just a little. Bloom around bright lights kills it : (
@VicBarry Жыл бұрын
Have you tried dropping the EV?
@hidaven Жыл бұрын
@@VicBarry Yes, helps a tiny bit, but if you go past -.3, it starts to underexpose the whole scene creating the need to adjust exposure in PP. In a stills camera you can do a little more to counteract this issue, but this is much harder on the pocket 3. Lights look like mini nuclear explosions. lol. Shame as its really the ONLY obvious drawback of an otherwise great camera.
