The more I use this zip line, the more I love it! Shooting an entire sequence with it is probably a little excessive, but adding a few of these shots into a more traditional sequence would really help it stand out. Solo filmmaking has never been more fun! 😊

Great idea and tutorial! A little question: Is there a way to remove the rope from the scene?
@LearnOnlineVideo
@LearnOnlineVideo 13 сағат бұрын
Great question! There are several ways to keep the rope out of your shot. The easiest and simplest is to angle the camera so the rope isn’t visible. The wider your focal length, the more likely the rope will be in the shot. If your camera is pointed directly at the rope, it’s more likely to show, but if you angle the camera to the left or right, it’s less likely to be in frame. Another option is to remove the cable in post-production. This technique is often used in Hollywood films, but how easy it is depends on the shot. The more visible the rope, the easier it is to remove in post. Hope that helps!

When using the DJI gimbal are you forced to shoot through the DJI app? A lot of us are using 3rd party camera apps to film and the gimbal is usually not supported natively.
@LearnOnlineVideo
@LearnOnlineVideo 13 сағат бұрын
In this case, I was using the DJI app to capture these shots because I specifically wanted to use the AI tracking feature. The gimbal still works without the app, but you won’t have access to the AI tracking. There are essentially two types of gimbals: the first has a magnetic AI tracker that attaches to the gimbal, allowing you to use any camera app and still have tracking. The second type has built-in tracking, but you can only access AI tracking through the gimbal’s app. I have another gimbal with a magnetic tracker, but it’s quite a bit heavier than the DJI Osmo 6, and I didn’t want to add more payload to the zip line than necessary. Hope that helps!

Those shots looked great Steve although I am sat here wondering how did you get the zip line down from the tall tree? As I bet that was fun doing that lol. I only came across your channel recently as I bought myself a cheap gimbal which seems to work ok although I do use it with an android phone & one thing I have noticed is pretty much all content creators use I phones. I know some gimbals are finicky with Android but mine isn't to bad so it would be good to hear what you think?
@LearnOnlineVideo
@LearnOnlineVideo 13 сағат бұрын
Getting the zip line down from the top of the tree was definitely tricky, but the carabiner is weighted, so I was able to whip the line and eventually get it down. Hope you’re enjoying your gimbal! As you’ve probably noticed, I’m an iPhone guy. That’s mainly because of the camera quality and how easy it is to switch between my iPhone, iMac, and iPad. I use all my own phones and computers for the channel and buy them with my own money-no freebies here! I’d love to try out Androids, but I can’t really justify buying new phones just for tutorials when I’ve already got what I need. Maybe in the future! But for now, it’s all about iPhones. Thanks for watching, Steve

An overpriced, time-consuming gadget at $400, completely redundant in the age of drones. The DJI Neo offers the same features with better performance for just $199. For the price of one Zip Line, you can get two DJI Neos and capture footage from multiple angles. (I will just post my response here as you keep deleting it) - "Zip lines might be useful in no-fly zones", good luck finding one in the wilderness where your video is filmed. And even if you tried setting one up in a no-fly zone, you'd face safety and regulatory issues since these areas typically restrict all moving objects. Plus, you shouldn’t be filming near airports, military bases, or sensitive areas anyway. Assuming you could even find two trees to attach your zip line to, you'd waste time on location setup. As for image quality, the DJI Neo’s 4K footage is more than sufficient for most content creators. While higher-end drones might offer better sensors, the Neo provides excellent quality at its price point. Many users are happy with the results, and unless you're shooting for high-end production, it gets the job done well. Flying two DJI Neos at once isn’t complicated either. You should know this better then anyone. With automated flight paths, follow modes, and obstacle avoidance, modern drones practically fly themselves. Using two drones lets you capture dynamic, multi-angle shots in one take, saving time and delivering more creative possibilities. Even in the forest that you just filmed. Safer? You almost got hit by your own zipline gadget 12:18, 2:07 Proceeds to walk across a fallen tree a few feet in the air with branches sticking up like spikes... safer than a drone, you say?. Quieter? drones like the DJI Neo are quiet enough for most filming and have obstacle avoidance, so safety’s no issue. Battery life? Drones give plenty of time, and swapping batteries is easy. Plus, if you’re doing B-roll, you’re going to slap music over the footage anyway. Setting up a zip line takes way more time, and the supposed advantages of the zip line don’t really hold up in practical use. Zip lines have serious limitations. You’re stuck with a fixed path and angle, and any adjustments mean completely redoing the setup. With drones, you can instantly change perspectives, angles, and heights on the fly. Plus, zip lines are only useful where you can actually find anchor points, like trees or poles-good luck with that in many environments. Drones give you far more freedom and flexibility without all that hassle.
@LearnOnlineVideo
@LearnOnlineVideo 14 сағат бұрын
Drones are great, but this zip line can be used in no-fly zones and requires much less skill to operate. It’s quieter, safer, has far better battery life, and allows you to capture more unique shots. The image quality also far surpasses that of the DJI Neo, which most agree isn’t great. Also, why would anyone want to fly two DJI Neos at the same time? That sounds like an absolute nightmare! While I don’t agree with your points, my best advice to anyone looking to make videos is to use the tools that work best for any given shoot-whether that’s a simple tripod, a drone, or a zip line. Also, just to be clear, at no point in this video do I tell anyone to go out and buy this zip line, nor was this intended as a comparison to drones. It was simply a challenge to see what’s possible with it. Thanks for watching though, I appreciate it! 😀👌

If you do a basic search for this product you see it has terrible reviews. Please do better and stop promoting bad products. It does not last long and there appears to be no replacement, warranty or batteries. This is why I never trust a KZbin reviewer. They are only after profit, not honest reviews and they are hurting the very community they pretend to support.

I have been following you for some time now. I’ve recommended you to family and friends. Because of you, my son, who is in video production, has purchased several items and saved a lot of your tips. I do have one comment. I love you clips with sound effects and music. But have you noticed you learn toward very “ dramatic” music? I think this finished video might have been better with some lighter music or even some nature/calming music. Will see you in your next video.

There’s definitely a bit of time involved in setting up these shots, but once you’ve done it a couple of times, it gets quicker. I can usually set up a line in less than five minutes. This is also a great alternative to a drone for those who don’t have one or can’t fly one. I know a lot of people watching these videos live in no-fly zones, so are looking for ways to get more unique shots. Other benefits of a zip line versus a drone: it’s much quieter, requires less skill, no license is needed, you can repeat the exact same shot multiple times, and it’s much safer! Plus, I’m way more comfortable with it flying closely past my head. 😊 Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a huge fan of drone shots, but this is just another tool to help capture something unique, especially when shooting solo. Thanks for watching!
