Technically the invention is now open source unless the inventor decides to patent, but because it is a simple adaptation it would be troublesome to define what exactly in the invention is an innovating.( You cannot patent the intellectual property of redistributing weight, or the bent shovel wouldn't have so many knockoff versions competing.) it is more likely he have to patent a unique rope and spindle harness.

Two other tips for sore shovelers out there: 1) tie a knot in the rope just above the point where you're grabbing it, that will keep your hand from sliding up -- and you might want to tie a knot where you actually grab it to give yourself a better grip, in addition to the knot above where you'll grab the rope. 1a) You might get better control and grip by using webbing -- the material that dog leashes and tie-downs are made from -- but not the thick type material which will be harder to knot and tie onto your shovel. 2) spray your shovel liberally, front and back with WD40. Snow slides off. Another person below said to heat the shovel and apply wax, but no heat needed with WD40! And you can quickly reapply too. And -- if you're also using a snowblower/thrower (single or two stage, it matters not), spray the inside of the housing, all sides of the auger, and the inside of the exit chute, and if you have a two-stage, spray the impeller and the inside of the exit chute. This really keeps the snow from sticking -- especially that wet heavy snow that sticks!
@lkanavaros95768 жыл бұрын
Right. I actually do have a number of knots, even though they aren't clearly visible. A good set of gloves also improves the grip.
