I actually cut my deck 3 times in a row perfectly lol. 8 of hearts and 8 of spades were in the center of my deck at the time. I hit it perfectly 3 times in a row while I was following along. I’ve NEVER done that before, and now it’s more like a 1/5 chance, but I actually pulled it off just from the simple tip he gave. Thanks for the video!! He mentioned pushing down on the cards into the felt so the padding of your fingers and not the tips of the fingers can grasp the cards. Given that, how important is it to have a pro table (felt plus padding) versus shuffling on a hard surface, like a dining room table or whatnot?
@JackBlackCasinoDealerSchool3 ай бұрын
All Casino tables have a slight padding in order for the Dealer to shuffle and pick up chips. The padding makes life easier on the finger tips. To practice at home the ironing board is the best surface, it's adjustable and has the cover on top. A wooden table or work surface is difficult because you can't control or pick up the the bottom of the deck. Putting a towel down, or mouse pad helps with this issue.

@@JackBlackCasinoDealerSchool Oh, wow, great, thanks! My biggest concern is the interleaving of cards (as well as propper plugging and box cutting). I have read some numbers on how many cards professional dealers interleave. Frankly, the numbers seemed unrealistic. That is, in my experience, it seems real casino dealers dont put a lot of effort into that. (And maybe you're familiar with the study showing it takes at least 6 shuffles or whatnot to randomize a SINGLE deck, let alone 6 decks.). So, when I learn how to professionally shuffle (and then deal myself shoes to get an idea of how my blackjack strategies might do in a real casino environment), I don't want to 'overshuffle.' (I also dont want to undershuffle.). But I guess it might be better to overshuffle if anything. That is, if my strategies work when I overshuffle the cards, then the strategies may work a tad better when casino dealers that I play against for real money shuffle a bit less thoroughly.

Great instructions! I wish to add one thing. When picking up the deck with the one card, I was taught to have the cards face the players and not towards the dealer. But, it's for Poker dealers not blackjack dealer. Reason being, poker dealers shouldn't see the bottom card so they can not cheat. Blackjack dealers are ok because you don't want the players to cheat.

@JackBlackCasinoDealerSchool10 ай бұрын
All Casinos have a different shuffle. For my Dealers, they break the Double deck in half, move them so the back corners are level with the rack. Break in half again, going straight out, and in front of the original two piles. Shuffle top left and bottom right together. (Shuffle shuffle strip shuffle) place in the middle and repeat with the two remaining piles. Place the second set on top of the first. Break this in half, one deck in each hand, and shuffle together. One time only. Offer the cut.

You are using muscles that you don't normally use, the key is no power. You need enough to stop the cards moving, but don't squeeze them. Leaning the hands into your thumbs, takes the pressure of the pinkies, and allows your thumb to roll under the cards.

So if im shuffling double deck, does the acceptable cut range also double? So instead of justing beinf +- the 3 royals, does that double to +- 6 cards on either side? Kqj10,9,8? Turning 21 in a couple weeks and im realizing my double deck shuffling isnt good enough, or atleast i dont feel like it is so it probably isnt
@JackBlackCasinoDealerSchool2 жыл бұрын
Breaking Double deck in half is still the Royals. 🙂 I would off set one deck towards your dominant hand, put your index finger on top of the deck and reach down with the middle finger and thumb for half. Off setting the deck let's you know exactly where 1/2 is. The rest is muscle memory.

If its just for occasional use, bicycles are ok. For practicing the shuffle the firmer cards are better, as they are more durable. The narrower cards used in Poker are bridge cards. The bigger size (BJ) are Poker cards. These are expensive, but they are washable.

I went to this dealers school in Vegas called Crescent School of Gaming and Bartending last year when I lived in Downtown LV for 2 years and was a blackjack dealer for Circa/Golden Gate (If you haven’t been to Vegas, I recommend going to downtown cause everyone is always at the strip and prices at the tables in downtown are cheaper and more fun, in my opinion. Anyways The instructors at the gaming school were hardly ever there to teach us (even though they said they are open and you can come in anytime from 10am-8pm everyday and can come in any day you want as often as you want and I went like 5-6 days a week to learn and was always told the teachers didn’t come in so classes are canceled. When they were there, they didn’t explain it near as well as he does. I had to learn blackjack mostly on my own (with help from my grandparents cause they go to Vegas like 3-4x a year) and the shuffling was the hardest thing for my to learn cause I got so use to shuffling the regular way not casino style. This video really helped me. Moved out here to Cali and live in Menifee. I saw this school and really want to go to it so I can get back into the casino life of dealing. Sorry for rambling but I just wanted to say thanks for making videos for those of us who either need a refresher or just want to learn for fun.
