As a male vocalist, I can also say in regards to head voice, that breath control is a HUGE part of it. If you don't sufficiently breathe, your head and chest voice will sound weaker and less resonated. Breathe deeply with your diaphragm. Not like a gasp, but a heavy breath.
@kuhdiejay3 жыл бұрын
If you get used to the feeling of pinching your air off without closing your throat then scaling shoukd almost feel like second nature. If you draw back your jaw instead of smiling then you can slide into falsetto easy. But before all this finding the headvoice and how to properly go into it will also map in how to travel from chest to falsetto through head voice. Once you do both work into your head voice then falsetto becomes a lighter version of that transition. I wonder if that made sense to someone learning

Just means you have to keep practicing it and getting more comfortable in it. Your tonality is gonna be a lot more limited in your head voice at first, since naturally you’re WAY more comfortable in your chest voice. Once you keep developing your head voice though, you’ll be able to play around with the sound of it a lot more, so you won’t be stuck with that “Mickey mouse” sound. That being said though, these other replies are correct. If you’ve already achieved that sound, then you’ve already got a pretty good start (better than most actually. A lot of guys struggle to even access their head voice at all, and if they do it’s usually pretty weak/underdeveloped)

1:29 people always confuse this. Falsetto isn't head voice. As demonstrated is this the vibration of the ligamentous edges of the vocal cords - resulting in a falsetto voice. Head voice still is being produced fully by the vocal cords but as for the pitch seems to swing in the head (I'd say in your register this happens around G4 and above). You still don't use falsetto but have the higher tones rather coming from your head than your chest. A very good demonstration for this is your intro: 0:28 Your head voice sings "run, run, run" and in 0:30 with "lost boy" you switch to falsetto ;)

Yooooooo as I'm practicing this, I understand the work ethic of MJ I heard a while back in a video MJ's deep voice and I also heard how he talked about his profession. The man slept, walked, ate and spoke with everything that aided his sing level. This is evident in his choice to always speak in head voice, to ensure his singing is controlled exactly as he wanted it to be. The legend continues to teach well still 💪

I agree that it’s important initially to work on head voice, but don’t make the mistake I did of working 90% on head voice & neglecting your chest voice. I had to spend a LOT of time getting my chest to the same level and it was frustrating. Consider what you want to sing and what register you prefer singing in and then practice accordingly. Most importantly, have fun! 🤘🏻

And I got frustrated at my lack of progress because I kept trying to force my chest voice to do head voice stuff, and thought head voice sounded weird and was just something I made up. Now I have a bit more clarity on it, I just need to hone and train my head voice. Thankyou SO much for this video, you're awesome man! 🤣

I have been singing daily for the past three years, I now understand what is meant by head voice, I was calling it the God voice, such a connection for me to hit notes you never thought you could, I am learning my voice is developing power, where I can go on either side of the tone, with power, but I hurt something for the first time this week, lesson learned. Where do I go to find out what bad habits I have learned. If the head voice doesn't work I use the chest voice to work into the head voice, singing for me is my own little wealth of sanity.

I used my head voice or higher when I experienced my voice changing which made my voice really high (soft) and wheesing like (in my throat it wouldn't close fully when I would speak) and I got bullied for that alot. Then I got lessons to use my chest voice (also breathing with my belly) and that changed my life. I wish I knew this earlier back then that would have made my life alot easier now because i'm still dealing with the trauma and getting over it making my self-confidence better, I fixed my voice when I was 15 but the damage was done to my mental. Fitness helped me be more confident but than drugs made my life miserable again. Now i'm healing from the drug abuse, mental abuse/verbal and alittel big of physical abuse I got when I was a kid and I find that I'm actually gifted in creativity so now I want to learn how to sing and mix the two thats indeed the hardest part of it all. I got inspired to learn to sing by the song from the netflix series Arcane from Imagine dragons called Enemy that song does something to me and its kinda changing my life I believe. Thannks alot! Now it's time to practice and practice and practive abit more and not care about what people say when i'm practicing. I believe that me learning to sing and becoming good at it will heal the damage that has been done by those bullies even more! THANK YOU SO MUCH and TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF! Greetings, Doran.

So if I can give you a piece of advice I would recommend you to check jacobs vocal academy here on KZbin, he makes great lessons. Unfortunately it’s not a paid ad haha but it really worked for me! Keep chasing your dreams because they might just become reality!! Good luck! :)

Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:4-10 NKJV www.bible.com/114/mat.5.4-10.nkjv” AND “““You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16 NKJV www.bible.com/114/mat.5.13-16.nkjv” lets keep singing my dudes 😌✊🏽

Is there a difference between head voice and falsetto? I’ve been singing my whole life and am looking to improve. I’ve never really had any formal vocal training, so I’m not clear on some of the terminology.

Good question
@nenolaura21994 жыл бұрын
Falsetto is a different vocal configuration, where the cords are more disconnected than head voice, which is part of why there is a tonal quality difference between the two, where falsetto cannot be supported and has a thinner airier quality than headvoice, and it's harder to change the dynamics.
@jjozu4 жыл бұрын
Bruh the difference is that head voice is stronger as you push more while falsetto u relax more and push less
@weebtrash61194 жыл бұрын
Jolix Official yup.. the more relaxed the throat and jaw are the easier falsettos are (granted you’re practicing and improving correctly)

There is a big confusion when it comes to certain terms in vocal community. Before I identify any term, I would just like to say that it is important to make good sound with your voice rather than having to know what every single word in vocal methodology because there are many different schools of thoughts that conflict with one another. Really, it’s kind of pointless in my opinion to know these things unless you want to become a vocal coach. But it’s good to have these knowledge than not having it lol :) Falsetto: vocal register that produces notes beyond our modal/“normal”/chest voice. It has a airy quality to the voice because most of the air passes through the vocal cords/folds and very little part of the vocal cord is vibrating. It is also referred as M2(if I’m wrong about this, please correct me). However, as you get higher in the falsetto, it becomes a brighter sound because the vocal cord starts to come together more. Some people refer to the brightened state of voice in falsetto register as head voice because the vocal cord is more connected, but what they fail to understand is that the bright head voice they have, as they come lower in that “head voice”, the cords fall apart and become airy. In fact, these two different terms mean the same thing in this way since both are produced in M2(mode 2), which is produced by a muscle called CT. The actual part of the larynx that produces falsetto is a muscle called cricothyroid or CT. It is a muscle that is responsible for lengthening of the vocal cord. It helps us with high notes. Head voice: this is where it gets confusing... you see, the term head voice for men’s voice and women’s voice are different things. So let me break it down like this. Original meaning of the head voice(for men): it refers to what we call nowadays as mixed voice. Mixed voice is... well this is a confusing term also because you cannot “mix” the head voice and chest voice. But anyways, if I explain what mixed voice, it will become too long. But anyways, it was whenever we felt the resonance or the vibration in our head, we called it head voice(we now know through science that it isn’t possible to literally have vibration in your head because... well all the vibrations are produced in the vocal cords). so really, this original meaning of head voice for male is referring to whenever a male starts to sing around 4th octave and above in what sounds like chest voice. Head voice nowadays for men: same definition as falsetto that was explained above. Head voice for women: head voice for women is also same as falsetto definition that I provided above. Now I might get a lot of heat for this, but hear me out. The reason word falsetto came about is because in male voice, chest voice sounds like real voice while our falsetto sounds like a “false” voice- hence the name falsetto. Now in women’s voice, there isn’t much difference in terms of how it sounds when it comes to their chest voice and falsetto. Since both sounded very similar, the term falsetto was never used for women. This is the voice that most sopranos and other female operatic voices sing with for the most part.

I thought "head voice" was called falsetto. Anyway, I started learning Bridge Over Troubled Water a month ago, and sounded terrible, so screechy up in my head voice! But finally it's actually starting to sound alright. Still weak, but at least pleasant. So the moral of that story is, the voice is controlled by muscles, you have to exercise them.
