As an untrained alto, my head voice has always scared me; I tend to avoid it at all times. This lesson really helped-- I feel more equipped to start experimenting with my head voice. Thanks!

Evynne Hollens as a alto I'm in choir in my middle school. And I'm in advanced choir lately my voice has been very raspy and very breathy and not supportive. When I'm singing the do-do singing in my choir I can only get to "fa" before getting very raspy and very breathy. I also know that I am not singing in my head voice. I have been like this for about a month. What should I do to fix this? Thank you so much for the help.!

Anna31415926 i sang a lot of amy lee.. studied her vocal type. it helped SO much along with these techniques to develop my head voice. i get an effortless vibratto in that range now since working on all this. most important thing is to relax. your head space area that your upper range needs will get smaller and more constricted when you're tense. sing like snowwhite sings to her birds in the disney movie 😂 sounds silly but if you do that enough while focusing on your technique you can train yourself to let go a little more in that range instead of feeling so forced.

As a soprano, I find it so difficult to sing with my lower register and starts to "vocal fry". Don't know if that's the right terminology for that. Can you please give some tips?

For the soft pallet thing my choir teacher always says to bring your voice back (if that makes any sense). As in to the back of your head, in your throat. She explains it better… She also compares it to singing like an old British lady XD

This is great for those that have a falsetto. I dont. I just have chest voice and thats it. Been using only that from Sept of 73 when I started working full time in clubs, to when I retired in 2019. This mixed voice/head voice is something some can do and others cant.

I took choir and a few voice lessons all through out school but stopped singing when I graduated high school. I love these videos! They have gotten me back into singing on a regular bases. The best part is that my husband and I found out that we were going to have our first baby and my biggest dream for my future children especially this little girl is that she will have a heart of worship and musical/singing talents far more beautiful then I can imagine! We listen to everything you and Peter share and now I'm not only playing music for her but singing to her ALL the time! Thank you! **Can't wait for the belting lessons. I'm a loud singer but belting is something I have ALWAYS wanted to know how to do!**

I always had problems with this, I sang for much time in alto register in the choir I participate because I felt uncomfortable using head voice, I was untrained. 5 years ago I had amazing classes with a classical teacher here in Brazil and she showed me how to use that in a very powerful way. So I started to sing as a soprano in the choir (and sometimes mezzo). But I spent 3 years without singing, because I went to study in Australia and there I hadn't participated in a music group. So now I am back, but feeling that fear again... I am determinate to stop being scared of using my voice again! I love this channel !!!
