2 important keys for high notes(mixed voice). Make sure to get proper breath support-breathe from your diaphragm. Its common for people to tense up when singing high notes. Loosen up and Breathe. Keep your whole body loose and relaxed. Also think down rather than up when singing a high note. One last thing, everyone has the ability to be a great singer. It just depends on how much of your time your willing to commit/dedicate to practice. All things are possible.

Hey Christopher. This video is simply about learning to release into your upper register, blending the voice VS. pushing/yelling for it. HOWEVER, with experience, we can learn to add more intensity and chest voice resonance into the mix. Think of it as paint: Chest voice is black, head voice is white, mixed voice is grey. Those grey shades can be really dark grey (very chesty mix) or light grey (a headier mix). But, again, the very first step is learning to release into the mix itself.

I know it's been a couple years since you wrote that comment but I hope this'll help. The Mickey Mouse voice comes when our vocal chords "disconnect", break apart from each other, and we go in falsetto. This exercise is great exactly for this purpose, to shift from chest voice into head voice keeping the vocal chords connected, without breaking into falsetto!

I love how you speak as if the person is right there in the room with you. I have my laptop down in front of me and it feels as though this is the case for me. Also, I appreciated your solely playing the scales because, occasionally, I find myself trying to match, not the key, but a coach's sound if I am doing the scale with them. It's hard focusing on myself when I'm focusing on them.

I have been singing for the past 2 months. He's actually therapy for me. Also I watching you, I just learned so much, when I first went online to search for music lessons I felt as though a lot of teachers were basically teaching the same technique, but you have the most knowledge of teaching the best possible way, I would like to thank for all of your master techniques. You are absolutely amazing. You showed me exactly what I was doing incorrectly and guided me to where I should be heading. I had one question though: I believe I have achieved mixed voice, but when singing in it, I notice that my voice will distort or make a kind of "vocal fry" sound. The same happens when I sing in head voice near my break. My break is around a G to A#. So, I'll be singing a note in mixed voice at a G and it will sound very unsupported and like it is going to topple over any moment. Do you have any suggestions for that?

Hey Eric, your videos have really helped me out in singing. However, I'm having the opposite problem from what you describe in the video, which was pushing to hard. I sing tenor 1 in my high schools men's choir, so I'm fairly familiar with my head voice. However, when I tried to go to this "mixed" voice, I simply fell into my falsetto. I'm having trouble not just jumping up into my head voice like I'm used to, and so far I've been unable to even feel the in-between voice your talking about.
