Not editing out your mistakes when teaching is so important, I love that about your videos Chris - shows the human side of singing. When even live performances uploaded to KZbin nowadays are pitch corrected and edited to perfection in the studio and cellphone videos of live shows are taken down by record labels, it's so easy to believe that anyone who calls themselves a "singer" is perfect at what they do, and somehow above humanity. Don't get me wrong - professionals are amazing because they work insanely hard, but everyone makes mistakes. Thanks for being humble!

I like to call it the myles Kennedy whimper. He does it so much in his fortress album. The singer of opeth does them a lot too. I'm a closet singer as my sister's destroyed my confidence when I was very young but I still would love to be able to sing for myself. Learning vibrato and those "whimpers" would make me happy

@@theandiller Mark is a brilliant musician and he's a pretty good singer, I like the dark tone of his voice in contrast with Myles brighter tone, and his more aggressive approach on his solo project. He's in tune and all, but you're right; sometimes on his live solo performances it seems he lacks of a proper technique, mostly reaching high notes. I've noticed he delivers with too much force on live performances, maybe because of the adrenaline of playing live (not to mention singing while playing guitar is HARD) and sometimes it's not that necessary, you should be a little more relaxed to sing. But I've seen he's improving with time, that's a good thing. Also a big AB and Tremonti fan here :)

Dear Chris Liepe. I've been thinking and working alot on my singing lately, hoping I can at some point reach my dreams of performing. And at this stage I just really wanted to say thank you. I've been all over the internet and listening to all sorts of teachers telling me all sorts of things but everytime none of them would point out the fact that to sing is to reach the full capacity of your voice without straining your voice just to reach the hardest notes. Out of all of them you really made me look at myself and showed me how I can be more efficient. Your video on how to trick yourself into singing higher for example: absolutely brilliant! You helped me reach the final notes I wanted to reach. When I started I could barely reach the high notes of hey there delilah. In the span of a few minutes I removed all heavy straining of my throat and finally sang Chandelier and Take on me without being sore after. All in just a matter of a few months might I add! Just by documenting the process of how you learned to sing and taking me on that thought train with you. And for that thank you. You're a great teacher and I wish you the best. If you read this I hope it makes your day!
