I know I don't know you but you don't need a teacher. If you get a teacher your more likely to sing like the teacher you have and not in your own amazing way. Also they cost a lot and it's easier for me at least to get my own opinion on my voice (record it)or have a family member or friends help. ☺️

Yeah sometimes I have that, it means your just straining your voice and your doing something wrong, you need to keep really hydrated, really try to relax your breath and do some other things that you can look up on the internet
@michaela27764 жыл бұрын
That’s because you’re not supposed to sing from the throat so to speak in the first place. If your a natural singer the fastest way to sing is to take singing lessons. Everything should be at the front.

THIS LADY IS A GENIUS. I had a lot of vocal tension and straining in my chest voice and my head voice was shaky and airy. At first I couldn’t even get my lips to vibrate like she does (yes, that’s how bad it was) and eventually I got it and now my voice is a million times better. My head voice is smoother and there’s way less tension on my chest voice, and no more squeaking or cracking. This strange trick is a freaking miracle

I've been singing for 10 YEARS! After a looong break from my singing, found that I've been straining my vocals a lot. I think this video really helped me get down to the nitty gritty as to why that happens! My vocal teacher and mom always told me to relax and hearing it from you... I think THAT's my reason why. My tongue also needs to learn his place (lol) Thank you so much for this video! :)

It helped me too. My coach had told me to do the lip bubble but i couldn't do it unless i engaged the muscles around the mouth into a small smile, which seemed to defeat the point of relaxing. You showing us how to put the two fingers on the cheeks completely solved the issue.

I do improv singing and our coach never mentioned that we could simply hold our cheeks during the lip bubble! I found much harder to do without! Thank you! The one time where my throat will always cramp up and get stuck in vocal strain is in church. I have a suspicion that the key they choose is way too low for my voice. After a short while, it will just hurt and my voice will disappear a little.

I used to strain sing and I didn't understand why it hurt so much and how to sing properly. I even went to Music school for 8 years and even tho I learned a lot about singing, they never showed me how to sing without straining aka not from my throat and everyone kept telling me that I sing from throat and when I couldn't do high notes I sounded bad. Anyways, I wish someone has taught me how to stop. I just recently, like at 21 started doing some exercises that completely stopped this habit for me. First, I let air out of my mouth like blowing air and saying AAAA while doing it. I was surprised how I could hit high notes just like that. After blowing air and saying A, I started singing, mouth fully opened and just letting air out. I never strain, it's always just letting air out of my mouth. Breathing beforehand and even yawning before singing helped me to finally break this habit and now I no longer sing from the throat. I just wish someone taught me this years ago because than I wouldn't had quit Music school and would've taken singing lessons and stayed in the choir. Btw I developed stage fright because of some comments made on my straining, like I said, I sounded like a goat singing high notes. I am so happy that now I can sing whatever :')

@Singerssecret9 жыл бұрын
+Leslie Soliman If you're still straining in your neck after watching this video, you'll need to look at your vocal placement (i.e the surface inside your mouth that you are resonating your sound). Watch my Belting videos because I'll explain how to move your sound forward and reduce neck strain by changing this slightly. :)

Sometimes when I hear these singers from the eighties it seems to me that they all did strain their voices tremendously. Like Morten Harket (although he sings very different now, probably due to different techniques he acquired over the years, but I am not sure about that) Anyway when I try to get those high notes, I will reach them, with a lot of tension and precise steering but I din't think it is the best way to do this. I wonder if there are some other techniques or will this technique that you just mentioned eventually cut it?

Mu tension does not come from a tense tongue (it's sometimes even too relaxed). Do you have exercises for other types of strain?

if the tension is anywhere around your throat, a good exercise is yawning because it opens up the whole area and loosens it. I absolutely swear by yawning for my warm up exercises

Mam,can u post a video regarding muscle tension dysphonia? I have been to several therapists, ENTS but no one could actually find a particular remedy as there is lack of any physical damage. But the problem which i face is a terrible tension or a feeling of a lump or my vocal muscles too tight that sometime they go out of control and nowadays i feel a problem in clear bright speaking. But i experience or never have experienced any kind of pain.My range has significantly reduced. Thank u mam for this vocal tip.

Ayan Saha hey I had the same problem . I went everywhere to help resolve the problem, but the person who was actually able to help me was an ear nose and throat doctor! Through putting a camera down my nose and getting a look at my cords, they discovered that I have VCD or vocal chord dysfunction. They were able to give me vocal exercises and amitriptyline to cure it . Hope you're doing better now !

I LOVE your videos! My question; I've been doing the lip bubbles and have found them to quite valuable. My only issue is my upper lip gets tickled after only a few seconds. Then I stop, scratch my upper lip (between the fleshy part of the lip and just below the nose), and start again. Is there any way to not be tickled by this exercise?
@Singerssecret8 жыл бұрын
+YourLifeFantastic That happens a lot when you first start using the lip bubble. The more you do it, the more you get used to it and it stops tickling. :)
