the blue in your painting is so much cooler than that killer mediterranean blue. it creates a much more sombre mood.

Well done. This can definitely work as a watercolor / line & wash. Great relaxed & improvised rendering. Ill stick around for a few more 🎨 🖌

I absolutely love this, it works for me in watercolour, I also love the way you don’t use £100 brushes and weird colours, and you are very relaxed, it has given me the inspiration to take up my brushes again 😁

Great to hear your voice Bob. Congratulations on building your empire. I was a pioneer of the late IDrawandPaint. You are still my hero for teaching me watercolors. I have actually won awards for my paintings and I invented a travel palette. It's been a long time since all that. Cheers

Thank you! Enjoyed sketching and painting along, and has given me courage and great pointers to paint a photo I took years ago of a blue garden gate. Thanks again!

yeah, but watching and listening isn't how you'll learn! The only way is by sketchingsketchingsketchingsketching as often as possible - everywhere and anytime! Take a small sketchbook and pencil with you wherever you go.

Would you be able to do a pastel series similar to this afterwards? Finding this series both useful and enjoyable and has encouraged me to add watercolour to my pen sketches.
@barbaragemin51174 жыл бұрын
This was a bit more work with the pen but it turned out fine. I had to force myself to throw the paint on as I'm used to taking more care with watercolours. Looking forward to the next one, thank you .

Good sketch, I would have roughed this sketch in pencil first then inked it. You also could got the mesh texture by scratching it in with a cocktail stick or some suchlike. Very nice though.

How do you get proportions so accurate so quickly?
@PhilDaviesArtist4 жыл бұрын
Have you seen the lesson yet? I talk about this in the sketching out bit. An easy way to get a good proportion of a rectangle is to look at the diagonal angle between two of the corners. No matter how big or how small you draw the rectangle, the angle of the diagonal will stay the same.
@blue99464 жыл бұрын
@@PhilDaviesArtist I just watched the lesson. I still find it really difficult to get them right though, even with the enveloping method and the measuring angles/lengths. Is this just something that comes over time? Could you also do a lesson on mixing/choosing colours? I think this would be helpful. Thank you

It is a waterbrush , used mainly for watercolor , holds water inside so you don't have to carry water
