Hi Phil, love your artwork and your teaching. I'm learning so much. The hardest thing I find is accurate proportions. I tend to use a grid for more accuracy but I much prefer your way of working on an accurate initial drawing from measuring and observation. I'm sure it'll make me observe things more accurately. I'm excited to have a go! Thank you!

OK this really pushed me outside my comfort zone! lol I get stilted by wanting everything to be ‘perfect’ so forcing myself to let go of that desire and just pushing through was quite the experience. I’m so happy with how it turned out!!! Onto Challenge #4!

This is “how to transfer a photo of a bird to a drawing on paper”, not how to draw a bird. Massive difference.

Collage + Colored Pencil,or ink or acrylic. Love it! Did a house with windows, thick white paper pasted down on the MM paper (after I drew some basic design on the house/stone work), in each window I used a different media-combo (Watercolor +pen, acrylic + pen, colored pencil +acrylic, etc.) LOVE you as a teacher. Every class in intro-creativity I teach promotes you as a great continuing resource. Take a bow, sir!

I am really enjoying watching and working on this video. I am technically challenged and can't find the supply list in the description below. What kind of charcoal pencil are you using? Thank you for all you do. Anne

Thank you Phil for the blog share. Great lesson on side portrait drawing. I love your Draw Awesome course. I’m amazed at what I can do by following your tutorials and all at my own pace. Your style is very supportive too, better than an actual art class I’ve attended. I’m much happier giving my money to you as I’m progressing more and it feels enjoyable. Well done Phil.

Dear Phil am a part of your Draw/sketch awesome courses and enjoyed this portrait along with you. Have to admit I had to use Loomis to start with to get this 0:55 going properly. Thanks for sharing so much for free!

Hi Phil this was very helpful, the picture you showed of Marilyn Munroe and how one line can make such a difference was useful. I have been taught all of the video techniques but it is always good to be reminded of what to look for……absolutely brilliant. Tks

I just finished Lesson Two. It turned out so amazingly. I’m very proud of myself. Maybe the coolest thing I’ve ever drawn. Thanks to you Phil!!! You taking the time to point out the variations and degrees of shading is so helpful to learning to observe more closely. Looking forward to Lesson 3!

Thanks so much Phil , very helpful , my main aim is to acheive a likeness like everyone .. those mm out , faulty reference points , angles and distances always find me out if I don't take enough time on initial laying out

Had a go at this because I'm normally not that good with portraits, as you said, slight millimetres out and it suddenly looks nothing like. However here, since we don't know this chap, he looks pretty fine in my sketch. 😆Thank you Phil. Great challenge.
