I hope you enjoy this 4th watercolour sketch tutorial in the series. This one's a little more tricky than the previous three so if you struggle or have any questions please post them below and I'll replay asap. If you've missed the previous 3 sketches in this series, see the links in the video description above. Phil.

I wish you would make more of these! I've been trying to cultivate my ink and watercolor work and your instruction and references have taken me to another level. Thank you! I've also simplified my pallette thanks to you.

These free lessons are extremely generous from Phil Davies! He has the ability to teach to any level with succint tips and skills (doesn't do random talking) that your own ability and confidence grows quickly. I have subscribed to art tutor and completed other lessons of his....worth the time and investment!!!

Your method for drawing complex architecture paid off. I managed to see the geometrical large shapes. Thanks. It turned out quite well- a challenge but I'm learning.

I don't think pen brushes had been invented the last time I attempted watercolour! Mr Amazon brought me some today. They are ideal for this sort of thing, especially out of doors.

Absolutely beautiful. Your teaching style is so easy to understand. I have been to Santorini took lots of photos. But I felt it’s too difficult to draw. Now I feel I should give it a try. Thank you very much 👍😊🇦🇺

This was a wonderful video. I really enjoy watching you work and studying your approach. Your sketch really is lovely and is a good reminder to push through it, don't worrying about perfection, and making it look like a photograph. It's all about making artistic choices.

up until now i would just sit down and start sketching somewhere (I am completely selftaught); I'm real bad with outlines and therefore go from angle to angle to angle; this means, if I get one wrong the next one is even worse etc. ;; what I have learned from you now, is that it's necessary to look at the reference beforehand: at the perspective(s) and symmetrie, etc. . I hope I'll still be able to start drawing if I do this, or whether I'll get stuck and loose myself in the planning of the sketch ... keep my fingrs crossedxx.

I tried once to paint this iconic Santorini urban landscape using arirbrush... It was my first and only try with aribrush and when Iremoved the adhesive mask it ripped the paper... It was very frustrating 😔. I love your sketch and I'll give it a try with watercolour to overcome the trauma. Thanks for your teaching!

I did this a long time ago in pen & acrylics. I was upset as my cross was tilted backward. A close, kind friend, told me, it’s tilted due to the earthquake. It worked for me.

Amazing, thank you for the great tutorials! Would you be able to let me know please: what is the thickness and the type of your watercolour paper? Is it 100% cotton? I seem to have difficulties finding the right paper, I can't afford the most expensive papers...

I can’t believe an artist would say with architectural drawing you don’t need to know about perspective, I would say with 60 years experience Understanding perspective is vital.
