It's a Conté à Paris 1710 B. Charcoal pencils on smooth newsprint are among my favorite drawing tools.

Tricky thing about modeling for oneself and changing the physique is when you're actually built LIKE a short John Goodman. I've been of use in drawing Jack Black and William Jennings Bryan so far, out of all the people I've caricatured. Ain't no way to get to Tiger Woods or Captain America from one of my poses :) Oh wait - I did draw John Goodman, and I was able to use my arm and hand for that one.

Hello there! I know I'm not Proko or anything but I advise you to check out Andrew Loomis's Figure Drawing for All Its Worth. It contains exactly what you're looking for plus anatomy, shape, etc. It's a great book to go through and it has a lot of examples plus what beginners usually do wrong. Hope this helped! :)

+Jacob Lydecka learning from and observing life is different from copying everything exactly like in your reference. Court is changing and exaggerating things he feels will capture the personality, likeness and gesture of the person.

I mention in the narration as I am drawing that area how it's important in caricature (and even in traditional figure drawing to an extent) to exaggerate the pose itself as well as the proportions.

You made the head too round, jaw too short and mouth to narrow to look anything like Goodman who has a wide mouth and pear shaped head in reality. If you're making a John Goodman caricature, then just draw Fred Flintstone. It's fail safe.

It is a shame that this video is listed on the Proko channel. Totally not good in all senses. If you were catooning... the resemblance does not match. If you were doing a caricature ... the features looks like a mutated Gaben.. If you were teaching a body-structuring process... it is a total distortion. BUT If you were trying to have fun.. well, you have won!

You should have watched this video with the volume up 😊 he said he was focusing on the body, not the face. Also, he said in caricature, you exaggerate a pose to make it more interesting.
