@@skicoachingonline you know, I went ok. But my friends encouraged me to go through them and just try to pivot really fast, so I ended up getting confused. We’re nearing the end of the season but I’m going to hold fast to this teaching and go through a couple more mogul runs before we run out of snow.

I think you should get rid of the pivot to skid and learn how to make turns.
@oliviamou60

Notes: Ski from peak to peak. You don’t have to be at the very TOP of the peak, just be in lined with the peak and ski so you are half way up the peak. Ski in line or towards the peak to go side to side. If you ski in between the bumps you will end up using the bumps to slow you down, skid, and lose control. Your ski would have to be on the side of the bumps to slow down.

The peak to peak is in reference to how far laterally my feet are going to get some speed control. Depending on the bumps you can ski the trough or on the face, but I make sure that you are somewhat in line with the peak. Thank you for your comment.
@CN-dl2cj
@CN-dl2cj 11 ай бұрын
The last few turns look like they were in the troughs and sliding until hit the side. I don’t see the turn near the peak. On the first few turns yes, but after that they looked like the first example of skidding in the troughs and using the side to control speed
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline 11 ай бұрын
Yes. The peak to peak element was just referring to the distance traveled across the slope. You can ski anywhere on the bump, wherever necessary (trough, ridge etc) for the desired outcome. Thank you for the comment 😃

He was not skiing over the peaks but half-way round the bumps so not peak or trough. The main tip I give about bump skiing is to have the correct pole plant which should just be wrist movement keeping hands in front so weight stays forwards. I used to judge world cup bump skiing.
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, pole planting and keeping the weight a bit forward helps a lot. This video is about the feet/skis travelling across the hill in line with the peaks of the bumps. Not necessarily skiing just over the peaks or just the troughs but travelling a little more across the hill. I agree some of the bumps were skied half-way round as you said, but the skis/feet moved across the hill in-line with the peak of the bump. Then the skiers corridor across the bumps is a little wider, to allow for more speed control. Thank you for the comment 👍🏻

Steve, can you explain more what you mean by "peak" because that normally means at the top of the bump?
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline Жыл бұрын
Hey yes. Just in line with the peak of the bump. By peak I do mean the top of the bump. But you don’t have to ski over them. But make sure that you come far enough across the hill so that you are at least in line with the peak of the bump down the slope. Hope this helps. Thank you for the comment.

Skiing bumps is the most exhausting thing, I can hear your breathing catchup just after avfew turns, how do I save energy not having to stop midway down the slope…I now excercise more, but then again
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline 3 ай бұрын
It is tiring, I’ll be in there today filming a video on how to save energy. But mainly focus on outside ski balance and either speed control though Sideslipping or absorbing the bump. I was puffing, with all the talking and skiing and trying not to pole plant with my right pole 😂 Thank you for your comment.

You said not to go through troughs (as the free flowing water would follow) but traversed through troughs and at the end landed on peaks
@skicoachingonline
@skicoachingonline 2 ай бұрын
Moving peak to peak as in laterally across the hill, sometimes going into the trough is ok, as long as there is a reason for it, if it makes it easier to ski over towards where the peak is situated on the slope. Thank you for your comment.

Moguls are easy on your 150cm skis....try that on 184 all mountain boards and you'll be catching the tails everywhere. Unless your a zipper line junkie most folk try and swivel/compress the skis near the top of the bump and extend into back side /trough...so by the time your in the trough your almost full height again.
