I really want to start ski touring. have done some crosscountry skiing and snowshoeing but am getting more and more interested in backcountry skiing. @dynafit
@dynafit 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, thanks for your feedback on the video :) Regarding your question - for sure there is a bit of practise involved as well but in general it helps to make sure the ski is placed on a rather even ground/surface and that the inclination of the ski is as small as possible. That way you also don't have to twist your leg/foot in any unnatural way. Furthermore stepping into the binding coming with your boot from behind and a 30 degree angle as described by Schorsch makes it easier as well :) Hopefully this helps, let us know if you have any further questions. All the best from you Dynafit team! #speedup

Hi there! We're super happy to hear this kind of positive feedback and of course glad we could answer most of your questions. Excited to see out there this winter! In regards to your question for the binding: There are different models and each has its own features and certifications but in our case we can recommend you our Radical binding which is ideal for beginners and also disconnects in case you fall when skiing down. Can the touring skis "glide" like an cross-country ski with the skins on? Or do these skins just make it like a snowshoe?
@dynafit
@dynafit 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie, thanks for your comment. To a certain extent one can also simulate some gliding with the skins on the skis when going forward - especially in the flat. In general the "hair" structure of the skins allow gliding on the forward movement and prevent the ski tourer from gliding backwards at the same time. The forward gliding however is not entirely comparable to cross-country skiing - that means we would not recommend cross-country skiing with your ski touring skis on the slopes :). To sum it up - the movement when walking with skins on the skis is a "dragging" of the ski rather than a "lifting" - so the movement is more similar to cross country skiing than to snow shoe walking if we have to compare it to the one or the other. We hope that helps & let us know if you have any further questions. All the best from your Dynafit Team! #Speedup

This is so useful. Quick question: why not lock the binding when going downhill?
@dynafit
@dynafit 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert! Thanks for your question and sorry the delay in our response. The binding should not be locked on the downhill for safety reasons - once locked the release will happen a lot later and in case of falling on the downhill your foot is not released from the binding and ski early enough. Hope that makes sense & let us know if you have any further questions! All the best from your DYNAFIT team! #Speedup

So you walk uphill for one hour to ski downhill for one minute? Looks like a lot of work, but maybe doing it for exercise?
@dynafit
@dynafit 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for your comment :) Of course ski touring is a greater effort and incudes less downhill time than when going alpine skiing with chairlift support. The focus is a different one...Physical exercise in winter as well as the fact of being able to reach different mountain places outside of ski resorts can be (among others) a very good motivation though :) Usually and in good snow conditions the way down is always a good reward for the uphill efforts - no matter how short it might be in comparison. Hi there! Sorry for the late reply. You can "ski" down smaller slopes also with the skins on the skis - this will be a lot slower though and if you remain in walk mode it requires a certain amount of balance as well. The current state of things has pushed people outdoors more and trying sports that used to be solitary. X country ski and the local trails are packed. Not much you can do about it except go on multi day tours. Most new people won’t be spending the night on the mountain
