I started playing on and off for more than i year now, the funny part is one of the first songsi started learning is plush by stone temple pilots which involve a lot of of slapping and a couple of bare chords ...I think it's a great song for slapping since the rhythm is really slow and could help switching chords and master slapping, learned horse with no name lately and been a lot harder because of the complicated strumming pattern and slapping despite having only 2 chords, but great one fir slapping too ...

Outside of my palm hurts a lot and the skin is peeling off when I am doing this technique, any recommendations. I have 0.12 gauge strings
@waldalwahsh78334 жыл бұрын
Be Better palm mutes should be soft enough to mute and not hard enough to hurt,try using a electric guitar or a guitar with a lower gauge to get proper feel of how to palm mute
@VeneliNikolov4 жыл бұрын
@@waldalwahsh7833 Thank you for the answer palm muting is not a problem, just this strum mute technique done on the acoustic like in the video, when I come down to mute the strings on the down strum the outside of my palm is rubbing against the string and causing redness and pain
@larrysulky76144 жыл бұрын
@@VeneliNikolov Be sure that your palm-edge (if that's a word) is not SLIDING across the strings. It needs to stop the instant it touches the string. Notice how David's hand and wrist twist to strike the strings rather than the whole hand moving across them. That motion is slightly different than when he is not muting. I think of it as CROSS / TWIST / CROSS / TWIST to achieve STRUM / MUTE / STRUM / MUTE. I hope this helps. ON EDIT: Also, it's harder to mute the strings the closer your palm-edge is to the bridge. If you strike the strings near the front of the sound hole, then your palm-edge will be right over the sound hole and the muting requires less pressure.

No matter how many times I see a skilled guitarist hit his guitar that hard I just cant bring myself to do it.
