What about- does it break your fast??
@Drberg
@Drberg 2 жыл бұрын
ONE POINT I failed to emphasize. Fasting! This video addresses those who having a problem sleeping, so kefir is a great remedy to take before bed. However, depending on your pattern of fasting, this kefir can knock you out of ketosis for a bit of time so shift the time you consume kefir to right after your last meal instead of before bed. Also - if you do plain whole milk kefir and only half a cup - sugars will be pretty small. But if you make it yourself, you can ferment it longer and reduce the sugars - but it will be sour.

Look doctor Eric Berg has changed my life! I have watched a least 20 plus videos. My diet has changed, I am fasting, 14 days fatty liver smoothly, how too drink water correctly etc .......no wonder I am sick. Now I now why. And the changes are easy. U just needed to feel better. Inside my body. A lot going on I can't see. But, all of this makes sense. I can only get better day by day. I just take one day at a time. Record in my diary how I am feeling etc ... If I loose weight. I don't care so much about that. It was how I was feeling inside. Take care he is good. He contacted me. True.

Dear Dr. Berg, I would like to thank you for sharing useful information. After starting keto I lost about 5% of my weight in 40 days. But the most surprising success was increasing my sleep quality. Average night wake-ups decreased from 4 to 1. I even had a 0, which I never observed in last 2.5 years, which is also surprising during hot summer nights. I tried different diets and activities before, but none affected my sleep in a such effective way. Thank you and wish you the best! Regards

I saw this video several months ago. We live in a rural area and have access to raw milk at $4/gallon. Many times the milk is so fresh it’s still warm as he’s milking as I’m filling my containers. I started making my own Kiefer and consuming at least a cup (maybe more) right before I go to bed. IT WORKS! I used to wake up at 2,3,4 am and I was wide awake. I also took Dr. bergs advice and not consume anything after 6 pm and make myself stay up until 10 pm. It took a a couple weeks but I now sleep through the night and usually wake up around 7-7:30 am and sometimes later.I don’t get up to go to the bathroom (64yo male) and I find myself with much more energy throughout the day. I’m making raw milk cheeses and our own butter. The milk itself is delicious and so thick and creamy. Thank you Dr. Berg for this advice.

@@donna8243 well, what can i say. I've started in my house (;p) from 116kg somewhere 2wks ago. I've heard about this "no carbs" diet which was totally insane at first glance, because here in Poland bread and potatoes are as common ingredients as pasta is for Italians. But i've tried nevertheless, BMI factor was telling me that i am way too short for my mass so i had to do something. Once looking for more infos about what i am actually doing and what side effects can affect me, i've stumbled upon dr Berg's videos and thanks to his really detailed analysis on molecular level i was convinced that i chose right path. Shortly after i've started 16:8 IF, now i feel pretty comfortable with 20:4, sometimes even prolonging fasts. If you rather wanted to ask how i started and maintained - it's rather simple. Stop counting calories, drop carbs and look how you are feeling. If you will want to go further into better you - consider 16:8. Protip: you will feel hunger during first 2 days, but it isn't nothing that couldn't be drowned in water (literally). Wanna eat? Drink glass of water instead. Water tastes too lean? Add lemon juice. I am sure that i've seen on dr Berg's channel somewhere a clip about recommended drinks recipies. Last but not least - remember that dropping carbs (and by that i mean sweetening tea, sodas, bread, fries, corn and oat flakes) greatly improves your chances to stay on IF. Hunger isn't then as nagging as it would be when you'd have empty stomach and lacking of sugar. i might had some headstart as i stopped sweetening my tea few years ago, i was so obese that i rather chose apple over jellies or candybars, if you are in "sugar junkie" point of your life, seriously consider looking for breaking sugar addiction first. ps. now i am 109kg and i cannot consider myself as "starving"; in fact i am eating better than ever ;) feel free to ask more questions, i am willing to share to extent of my own experiences.

Thank you for sharing this! I will definitely try it. I was curious why store bought Keffir is less not recommended. I have been drinking plain kefir on non-fasting days. I believe the brand is Siggis? I've gotten a little overwhelmed at times with the varieties of full fat, non fat, goat etc. Also, if I make my own does it matter what type of milk I use? Thanks again for all your advice.

As I am on a modified keto diet, I replace kefir by sauerkraut (2 tablespoons with my diner + raw tartare seaweeds for iodine). I managed to cure months of bad sleep in just one night. It's been now 1 week that I sleep like a baby in one go from 10PM until 6AM. Sometimes during night waking up I then fall asleep immediately easily. but most importantly, I wake up refreshed, which really helps to have a good day.

I can appreciate that good doctors cost in the U.S.A. In Canada we have the opposite starting point but similar final problem. Not enough doctors so even though our government pays for them you wonder what is the point. Even the lousy ones are fully booked - impossible to get accepted as a new patient with a good one here (which is rare !). I'm not a fan of self diagnosis or self medication but what I've heard in this video rings true. Also so many glowing and credible articulate comments that I am very trusting of this video and wanting to make my own kefir ASAP as well as try many of the "supplementary" suggestions made by other viewers. Hi Dr Berg. Thanks for the excellent video. One thing I have observed both from my experience with myself & my patients, I find that due to the stimulating effect of Kefir on the digestive tract, it actually tends to keep you awake if you take it right before bed. I have found it better if you take it in the afternoon or early evening that way you get the benefits of the serotonin, melatonin & b vitamins by the time you go to sleep, without the stimulating effect at night. I initially used to also recommend my patients to take it at bedtime and they used to have more difficulty sleeping at night until I read somewhere about the stimulating effects of kefir on the digestive system & experimented with taking it earlier and it worked out much better. 👍

Although I don’t have the crystals I bough an unsweetened organic bottle of kefir at the supermarket. Drunk 1/4 about 7 pm just to try it and was a bit scared to drink it right before bed because I seen some comments that it can keep you up. However, I slept better than I have in the past weeks. I did wake up in the middle of the night but thankfully I fell right back to sleep. So this morning I drunk half a cup on an empty stomach and will drink the other half like 2-3 hours before bedtime.

You can make your own kefir if you got raw milk. It's simple and much healthier than traditional kefir. Instead of kefir grains you use 1-2 tbsp of your own spit. Your own bacteria will then pre-digest the raw milk in 2-3 days at room temperature, and by then you put it in the fridge (before the the milk separates). That's real kefir, specifically made for your body.

All my first 20 years in the USSR we have been given a glass of kefIr (stress on the second syllable) to drink before bed in holiday homes, sanatoriums,, summer camps, hospitals, etc. We only heard of yogurts in Russia in the 1990s... I am still astonished that none of my friends from the West ever heard of kefeer benefits. In the Soviet Union we even had children's stories pubkished about a good kefeer-making microb family abd their adventures among other microbs!

I could not sleep all night, anxious, restless... then like magic this video appeared before me. So timely! I am going to use it like a salted Indian Lassi which is a yoghurt drink. This is how I make it: Mix Kefir with water till liquid. Add fresh grated ginger, chopped cilantro, cumin powder, sea salt. If you have an Indian store near you, buy a pack of MDH Pani Puri Masala. MDH is the brand, and its a tangy spice mix with dried green mango power, black pepper, rock salt, cumin, etc. Its not spicy hot at all. Mix this into your drink and its so tasty. You can also mix directly with Kefir, add chopped tomato and cucumber, cilantro or parsley chopped up, and make a salad. I mix Kefir with mashed potatoes or squash for a sour cream taste. As long as you don't heat it and kill the live culture, it is fine. It would probably make a great salad dressing too, blended with greens and spices. Thanks Dr Berg! Invaluable advice.

For people who are intolerant to dairy, do the grains work with soy milk or coconut milk? Your generosity in making these videos are a real gift and truly appreciated - from Australia.

To make kefir, one needs real milk to ferment, I’ve tried almond and oat “milk” but it does not work. If you can tolerate even a couple of tablespoons, your body will start building tolerance as the kefir heals your gut.

I've been making kefir for about 8 years now and it seems to ferment best if you use a yoghurt maker.

I am a fan from Turkey and we drink this regularly as well as Ayran (savory yogurt drink). I can confirm it’s an amazing recipe for a good night sleep. Also Ayran will replace your lost salt due to extreme sweating during the summer months 👍🏻

@@chriswhitehouse8982 How lovely :) I appreciate, for people from other countries it tastes a bit strange at first. I think it's because many countries associate yogurt drinks with sweet refreshments (i.e. strawberry, toffee, cherry etc.). But it's really refreshing when you get used to it. Especially in hot weathers. As well as very healthy :)
