This thing is just AMAZING! My soon to be 90 yo mom is has super sensitive skin that develops wounds from the slightest wrinkles. She has been sleeping in her recliner for years and was complaining lately it was hurting her. As she’s getting older she’s spending more time seated, and this will help with pressure so much. I thought she would hate it and complain it was too bumpy or noisy, but just the opposite, she says it makes her recliner even more comfortable and it makes almost no sound. You are just amazing and we can’t thank you enough for your phenomenal content! ❤👍

My father had Parkinson's and slept in his lift chair while he was home and after transitioning to assisted care. But when I had to put him in a nursing home they made him sleep in a bed. That's where he developed bed sores. Wished I had of know about your products then, but that was 25 yrs ago. So thank you lovely ❤ lady

I bought the pad. It's a no-go for me. It is very hot feeling and bunches up making hard spots for bed sore beginning. I have cats, so the inflatable is not workable because of their claws. These products may be wonderful for smaller pet less people like a little grandma. I weigh 224lbs 5'9".

Thank you for your video. I am an industry expert and an advisor to medical and wound care professionals nationwide. The bubble-style design of the alternating pressure pad you show is very problematic for use in a recliner. Using it as shown may not provide the person support or effective alternating pressure therapy. The pad has no low air loss to keep the skin cool and dry and is not thick enough to allow proper immersion. There are several other significant deficits. The pad as presented is NOT for a high-risk person with limited mobility who has existing mid to late-stage sores, especially coccyx wounds. I watch and enjoy your videos as you provide excellent advice. However, having helped thousands of people prevent & treat pressure wounds for several decades, (depending on a person's weight, body shape, skin condition, and more), the pad may help improve comfort but the limitations of this pad may not prevent or treat pressure sores as stated and in fact may LEAD to pressure sores.

Barry, my mother has a Stage 4 coccyx bed sore. At home from hospital for a week and I am already getting conflicting advise re sitting, staying in bed from wound care nurses, and an Occupational therapist. I am really struggling - bought a Roho pillow - does she sit on this or stay in bed? Can't walk after bad UTI and being in bed for 11 days. Execise ok? Plastic surgeon at hospital says no restrictions on movement but nurse said stay in bed with hip and lower back elevated and changing positions. Rented an hospital bed with air mattress and thinking of purchasing an modulating pressure air mattress. So many questions. Can you help me? A link to a trusted resource - a few words of advise? Thank you.

Thank you for the response, can you suggest an alternative? I find that many of these situations are very nuanced and not everyone has the same physical or financial resources. I agree that the low air loss solution is the gold standard and necessary for severe wound situations. I would love to know what options you recommend for recliner use and wound prevention as many continue to use a recliner regardless of medical recommendations.

@@robertm.1691I am not surprised you are getting conflicting answers however, your wound care team is most qualified. It is always helpful to know the source of the wound and much more about the person to know how to address it. As general info, coccyx wounds can develop when sitting in a chair or recliner or lying in bed. These wounds generally are from a combination of issues, (ie, pressure, moisture, shearing, patient position ect.,) and may recur if these issues are not addressed. A Roho cushion is a good cushion. However, it may not be the right cushion for a person with limited mobility and a stage IV coccyx wound. If the person can not move, and the cushion does not move, where is the continual pressure redistribution coming from? What about improving blood flow? Hence an alternating pressure cushion for either a chair or recliner. Some therapists recommend an alternating pressure coccyx cushion for similar cases or an alternating pressure recliner cushion. In a bed, coccyx wounds occur from shearing, sinking, bed position, pressure, moisture, and more. Once again, alternating pressure with low air loss is the standard therapy for the prevention and treatment of pressure wounds. There are many on the market and they all claim they do the same thing. This simply is not true. There are major differences between systems. An alternating pressure mattress with either true or enhanced low air loss and an automatic Fowler adjustment is appropriate for preventing or addressing late-stage coccyx wounds. Wound Care professionals have told me they have had excellent success with both the Adapt Pro Elite with Fowler or Power Pro Elite with Fowler. I would absolutely not use a bubble-style alternating pressure overlay in chair, recliner, or bed for a stage IV coccyx wound. Wound care should be a coordinated effort between healthcare professionals. Unfortunately, it is not, and people are left to fend for themselves to find the answers they should be getting from their healthcare professionals. Do not blindly trust what you read on Google and definitely do not trust AI-generated answers.

@@EquipMeOT You are correct. There are so many variables that each person must be addressed individually. More than most you are keenly aware there are no silver bullets. Recliners and articulating hospital beds suffer from many of the same limitations. These are one-size-fits-all positioning devices. Patients are forced to fit the medical equipment rather than the medical equipment fitting the patient. This almost always means modifying how the patient uses these devices (hence many of your wonderful videos) and sometimes customization of the alternating pressure cushion or mattress. There are no truly effective out-of-the-box solutions on Walmart or Amazon. One must speak to a person who can provide tailored, best-use guidance. In so far as a bubble-style overlay pad, these are meant for short-term use for a low to moderate-risk person when lying prone at 30-40 degrees in a bed. Besides the lack of low air loss, limited immersion capabilities, and significant product failure due to the materials and temporary nature of the pad, the way alternating pressure overlay pads are manufactured, the air channels inside the pad that supply air to the bubbles, kink when the pad is bent or in the seated position. A bubble pad was never meant to be used this way. Kinking restricts airflow within the pad causing patients to bottom out and not receive proper therapy. In a VA publication about innovative medical products chosen by VA medical staff, they highlighted an alternating pressure recliner overlay, model 9700GRLB-4401 manufactured to be more like a mattress. The VA uses the pad for in-hospital and at-home patients in home recliners and lift chairs. It is moderately priced online and is especially for a person with limited mobility, at mid to high risk of skin breakdown, or who already has a pressure sore.
