Hi and thank you for your question. First of all this will show you how to change endcaps on our front hubs. This is for example necessary when you will change the axle system. As well such a service is helpful to check the bearings if they are still OK. Additionally a small service will increase the lifetime of the bearings as a small grease pack, in-between bearing and endcap, will help to avoid contamination with water, sand,.... Enjoy riding your Bike, Friso "DT Swiss".

A 21mm socket can be used to drive in the cap retainer. Deep socket will help.

I assume the rubber sealing will not stick to the housing but will run smoother and also the sealing capability due to the added grease can be improved.
