I’m looking to do something similar, except mine will be a true smoked bird. Will the brine alone be enough to help get that crisp skin, or should I coat it with olive oil to assist with the skin? I do have the brine and dirty bird on the way.
@arnoldceja2971Ай бұрын
I smoked one last year on my electric smoker but skin was not crispy because the max temp is 275 on mine you need to smoke at higher temps. This year im going to do the same just finish the last hour of the cook in the over at higher temps to get that crispy skin. Also braiding the turkey with duck fat spray

Up to you! Rinsing is good, but not totally necessary. If you're just brining, you don't have to inject, but you surely can.

@@KosmosQ don't look like I'm going to have to worry about the rinsing process. The two-day delivery didn't make it today. I guess I won't be having any real good turkey this year. Quick questions- would not a store bought pre-brined turkey work just the same? Also, to keep less dry wouldnt it be better to pull at breast temp 155-160 since it will continue to cook while resting for 30min?

That is a salt ass bird. Brine, inject brine into the bird then salty rub. High blood pressure 🩸 much. You just need the brine plus you brined it for 24 hours I know it’s well seasoned but I would have used a low sodium rub if you were going to make this bird this way

I did this last Sunday, AWESOME. I would like to see a better turkey tying tutorial however, I got mine tied but it wasn't anything like yours,lol. The other issue was on the Brine Bag it says to use olive oil on skin before rub but after 20-30 minutes 98% of the rub had run off the bird. In this video I saw a can of spray duck fat that was never mentioned, what besides overpriced duck fat would bind the rub better to the bird?
@Shinesman219 ай бұрын
i could not follow the turkey tie at all because you attached it to a hole and then on one pass had gone around both sides.....
