How to solder brass pipe into water lead line

Soldering a brass nipple into a lead water line. Replacing a corroded brass fitting that is soldered into a lead line. This lead line is a main line running from the street.

I have lead too, I needed to do exactly what you are doing. Putting in all the plumbing. I believe with a good reverse osmosis filter, any lead can be removed.

If you haven't this problem in 2021, the best solution is cut the lead pipe and clean it all way round and then get a straight 22m pipe connector and but in side the lead pipe and drill the lead pipe with 15m metal bit. So what will happen is the lead pipe will expand and then make a mold inside the straight 22m pipe connector. Afte you make the hole for 15 m , but a the pipe and weld it as he did in the video, bu this you welded the 22m to 20m lead pipe and in to the 15m copper pip

Im in a 120 year old house. Pipe is broke under the valve and the valve at the street is ancient and doesn't work. Do i jack hammer the concrete up in my basement, cut the lead pipe, and try to find a bolt to plug the pipe? What do you recommend? Water is glowing from the pipe.

I have accomplished this task once. Since house cannot stop the water from coming through the pipe it must be redirected. The way I handled this was to drill a small hole in the lead pipe for water to get out. I stuffed the pipe with bread and forced the water out of the drilled hole. Then soldered quickly the new pipe into the lead pipe. Opened up the new valve and pressed against the small hole to build pressure and push the bread out. Now the small hole has no water coming out and will need to be soldered closed..

We still have lead in the main water lines. I'm talking from the water company. Many homes still have lead main lines. Not many have lead lines in the homes supply lines.although last year I saw a home with the lead supply lines still being used. Lead lines are commonplace in the big picture.
