Thanks. Trying to repair a 70 year old brass fuel primer on my Stinson airplane. I also had to learn how to fabricate a leather cup seal that hey used back then instead of O rings. It’s been an interesting project

I was wondering why my solder kept on beading up and would not seep in like yours. Now I know, missing the flux. Thanks a bunch
@TheChrisey4 жыл бұрын
Flux is there to protect the molten metal against oxygen in the atmosphere. It makes for stronger brazing.

Hey, it's Dex fro DHS. Nice work man, brass is quickly becoming my new favorite thing to work with. I love polystyrene, but on diecast models, it just feels out of place, and casting white metal is tricky and expensive stuff.

I did exactly what your tutorial says but I don't understand why my solder doesn't stick to my brass can you please help me
@TheChrisey4 жыл бұрын
That usually means you're heating the solder but not the brass. You should heat up the brass, then let the brass melt the solder

Hi Ethan, I have bought myself some flux. About the solder you used, should it contain any flux at all? I can locate only "rosin core", which apparentky also contains flux. I mainly solder thin brass rods (for slot carbox frames). I've found 60/40 but no 50/50 and I want t get the ingredients right.

Hey, beginner here. Can you please tell me what sort of solder I can use that is the same color as brass? I want to make some jewelry replicas, so the joint can't look a different color

Does the solder have the same colour as the brass
@katiedotson704 Жыл бұрын
I am guessing not as the solder commonly sold at hardware stores are silver based. I’m going to do a search on brass solder and see what I can find.

Is there any such thing as brass soldering paste or brass soldering wire to make it be all brass matching coler in the join instead of using silver solder
@russcole56852 жыл бұрын
Yes,. Brazing. Or bronze solder. There is a brand called easyflo. How this helps. Manly used for heavier gauge brass,. But does enable soldering brass to steel, and stainless steel. A lot cheaper than silver solder too.

@@nelbamartinez2310 thank you to my man,. Hope your project comes together well. When buying the Brazing rods, you will also need a tin of flux. It's a powder, gently warm filler rod, dip in powder to coat. Then heat your base material's, and dip dip filler rod. It'll flow nice when you have all temperatures at optimum. Can chase and flow with flame heat. Beautiful stuff to work with. Bit of a list art in the industry now. Chow
