Yeah, a second or so per pin is usually ok.

Why does your solder flow, I tried this exact same thing with a blend of lead in the solder and it ran off the pins and off the new soldering iron tip.

You need to apply enough heat on the pin and the pad by firmly pressing them. If you still have troubles after that, you can add some soldering flux beforehand on the pins and pads. Soldering flux improves the adhesion and flow of the solder. The wire I use has some flux already in the nit core.

@@gastonvale8172 well it shouldn't be that difficult. Try a smaller tip on the soldering iron and a smaller diameter solder for start. The process is fairly simple.

Yes. Unleaded is really difficult to work with.
