And what about the angle of travel of the police car relative to the observer? Since the car is not going to hit you, that angle changes the closer it gets, so it can pass you. So the relative speed is less closer to you.

I agree, I was afraid of the trig we were going to get into re: sin of angle for police car to the frequency. at 90 degrees, no matter the speed, it would be the same as generated. So from 10 feet off the street, minimal distortion but, from 1000 feet off the street, major. Decreasing frequency shift as it got closer, when far away from the path. love this channel!
