Mine was NOT checked, so as someone further down did, I also just went ahead and CHECKED "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN..." and now I can get online using Google Chrome. I find it strange that it works either way, but am thankful that the problem is now fixed. Thank you for your help! :))

I need help with this. I wanted to watch KZbin at school, but the school LAN uses an internet filter called Netsweeper. To get around this I need to put a proxy server on my browser. However, I didn't have admin permission to put on a proxy in Internet Explorer, so I downloaded Firefox and did it from there. However, when I try to go to any website I get the error message shown in this video. I know that the proxy I'm using works because I tested it out at home. How can I fix that error and still use a proxy at the same time? Please, please help!!! Thanks in advance.

As soon as you mentioned the software thing, I kicked up ultrasurf that allows me to go to bloed sights and it all worked again. Turned it of and it was all still working, so I guess when I logged of last night ultrasurf must have closed down but not changed the settings back. Thanks dude.. :))

Didn't work. When I uncheck Proxy Server, I proceed to next step & it did not work. I went back to LAN Settings & the Proxy Server was still checked. It does not keep the unchecked setting. This whole problem occured after running Malwarebytes Software for the first time. I quarantined about 96 bad files that were detected. Now i have proxy srv conn. problems. Other videos recommend editing registry files. Would you know which files need to be edited?

Thanks for putting this simple video out! I was tired of hearing my step dad blow his top every time he couldn't get on the internet, but my computer was fine. He is very impatient, so I waited til he was gone today, to check into his problem, without him haggling me. I concluded that it had to be something like a setting but couldn't quite find where to look or correct, So I went to my computer and did my Google thing. Got a problem? Google it. Whew! But I am left wondering, if this setting could be used again, would it reconnect correctly or is this option lost or what can be done to re-use such a proxy setting? This proxy thing seems like added security and it would be nice to keep the option. Any ideas?

GhostHawk1776 It should connect correctly unless you have VPN software installed which uses proxy settings for connection.

Hey bro! Thanks again! Awesome advice and extra info. My girlfriend added some add-ons and they must have reconfigured her laptop. I want to say youtubeblocker and a few others but cleaned them all out during the reset of the proxy settings. Worked great! Luckily put the golf club away and saved some replacement fees haha. Yep. That's what messed me up too. I updated "KZbin Downloader", & after that, I got the proxy message. It also added some add-ons, something called "SP protect", "GeniusBox 2.0", & other assorted bloatware & malware. To AVG's credit, it did immediately detected all the BS, & tried to remove it.(& did remove some programs) It just seems like AVG is not good with removing add-ons. In that regards, it alleviates symptoms, (it blocks any viruses the add-ons try to install) but isn't a cure.

When i connect my pc to my router with a cable, internet works just fine. But when i try to connect my pc to the router wirelessly i am only able to open the google page. When i try to bypass the google search page i get a white page. what could be causing this?

Well, I pulled the wire from my pc, put it in my kids lap top and I was online, so I knew the issue was at my PC. Also... this issue would not let me acess my router to turn the WIFI back on, hence I pulled the cable. All said and done this info helped me in 10 seconds to get thng working again.
