She is writing backwards because she is behind a transparent whiteboard. She has to write backwards in order for it to be easier for us to see and the camera to video her. It's hard to write at a weird angle so we can see all of the things we need to see. Make sense?

5 in fraction form is 5/1 because 5 divided by 1 is 5. So, 5 minus 9/2 is equal to 5/1 - 9/2. You must first get matching denominators (which is 2) in order to subtract. So (5*2)/(1*2)= 10/2. In other words, 5 = 5/1 = 10/2. Therefore, 5 minus 9/2 is the same as 10/2 - 9/2 giving you 1/2. Hope this helped.
