How to solve HP reverb G2 connection issues, error 1-4 or 7-14 on ASUS Motherboards

Ok guys for those people that didn't fix the issue of HP cable, according with HP Support, HP made a new cable active with a larger power board (the one that is on the cable, the little square power board, where you insert the external power plug), and they have implemented even a switch, according to a guy that is follow this channel it fixes the issue, so I suggest you to contact HP support and say to HP that you have tried everything including a powered USB hub and that you have formatted your computer yet, and referring to HP that you have done your researchs and that you found that someone solved the issue with the new cable with a larger power board and a a switch: "SPS-CA ACTIVE 6M BLACK /W Switch". HP would send you the new cable for free to your home.

Thanks for this. My G2 arrived yesterday, couldn't get any life from It at first, on an Asus X570 Crosshair VIII. Luckily I had a powered usb hub already, and then it worked first time of asking when I plugged into that.

@@danielecarmona i am in contact with the seller and he is regurely talking with HP,i was promised and upgraded G2 deliverd in December 18th,i have yet to receive anything blaming covid,now the are asking for a case number and are quiring this,i have ordered a PCI USB hub hoping that will fix the problem for now...HP have been AWFULL

and yet there are still those who had theirs running and then have the same problems later on. the reliability testing on this thing was unacceptable and completely piss poor. It was never ready to be released for mass distribution. The lack of response from HP is whats most disturbing. "all these fucking issues" says it all. what a joke. I gave up after almost 30 hours of trouble shooting like you, starting with software and drivers and all the way down the list. I simple ran out of time on the window to return it cause I couldn't get a base line that it actually worked, trying to get it to run on two different computers. So I sent mine back and it has left a very sour taste in my mouth about ever buying another HP product ever again.

I know what you are talking about, it's something that is making upset people, how can you pay so much for a vr headset (and Europeans are paying more than others) and have all these malfunctioning? I had a bad experience with HP g1 that immediately broken after a few days because a poor design where the cable coming from the headset where plugged in a plastic connector that was too heavy and because gravity bends the cable, after a few days my first blackout, so i sent back and i ordered G2, anyway I'm experiencing even other issues now, the plug that goes inside the headset loose the connection and windows reality gave me an usb error, then after a few hour of continuous usage it crashes, now I hope i won't have any other issues because I'm tired to change headset, and I'm amazed how Hp, Microsoft and Valve design this working together and having that resulted.

@Vincent Tuminello i didn't talk about USB hub, the hub doesn't work, you can solve with the USB PCI-e that i showed on my videos, don't use a USB hub connect to your usb on your motherboard because you don't avoid the chipset, only USB PCI-e works but it must be powered by your pc power supply, try my same trademark, i didn't have any other problems, some errors pop out because windows reality program, so in this case you have to Uninstall windows reality and install again and of course restart the pc, and don't forget to plug the power of your reverb g2 headset or won't works, let me know if it works.

@@danielecarmona I sent the first one back. I was a sucker for punishment and ordered a second one. Plug and play. But not with more screwing around. The controllers are complete ass. So I had to buy dongles so I could use my old vive wands. Had to purchase VR stop sign so seated games like Moss would work without grey screen. And finally the headphones at only 80% or you get blue screen / blackscreen. Was it all worth it. I suppose, but only because I had the vive wands already. It's been a full on love hate relationship. But that clarity us something else.

Thanks for the video, i have a few questions. your pci-e adapter (on the video) have 2 type-c ports and the one you linked doesn't its not the same one. also, why didn't you plug directly to the type-c port without the HP type-c to A adapter? you must use the HP Adapter?

Yes, i tested the first one pcie device and it was a bad quality so i bought after many researches another one that is the same on the description, this new device is more stable, the first one got a short circuit, anyway the typc-c wasn't working, i remember there were two typc-c ports but no one working, so i used the adaptor of hp. Anyway the first device pcie wasn't working properly and i was continuing to have errors 1-4 and others, then it was unstable, anyway the new device on the description is a really good quality, a simple but very good product stable and i didn't get any errors until now so i recommend it, the link is about the new device.

Io ho risolto in parte con un hub alimentata, mi fa cose strane tipo passare dopo un paio di minuti di gioca, l'audio dalle cuffie al monitor, oppure mentre sto giocando senza motivo passa nella stanza della realtà mista. Poi quando non lo utilizzo si avvia da solo più volte. Le ho provate tutte tranne il cavo rev.2 farò domani richiesta di inviarmelo.

Ciao, Il sata cable serve per alimentare la scheda pcie senza l'alimentazione non funziona, comunque adesso come ho segnalato esiste un nuovo cavo che puoi richiedere ad HP dicendo che hai provato di tutto, hai formattato il pc, hai reinstallato windows mixed reality, ma non è servito a niente, e che hai sentito nei forum che altre persone sono riuscite a risolvere il problema con il nuovo cavo HP quello che ha lo switch e la scheda di alimentazione più grande, te lo spediranno gratuitamente e poi dovrai inviargli il vecchio cavo.

Anche io ho questi errori da oggi, ho una Gigabyte B550, RTX 3080, Ryzen 5600X, fino a ieri ha funzionato per un mese, e qualche volta dava quegli errori, oggi non va proprio, se non per qualche minuto. SteamVR inoltre freeza e stuttera sempre. Ho ordinato su Amazon un HUB USB 3.0 PCI, dopo aver visto il tuo video, vediamo se risolvo con quello. Oppure potrebbero essere le RGX serie 3000 e i loro driver.

Lorenzo grazie per il tuo feedback, ti confermo che si tratta di una sensibilità del visore VR HP g2 alla corrente, infatti se non viene erogata la corrente esatta va in errore, magari riesce a funzionare ma durante l'esecuzione di app pc (giochi ecc...) che richiedono più potenza vi è un calo e il visore si spegne, cosa che ho provato a risolvere con la precedente scheda PCI-e ma era di scarsa qualità e riportava errori o black out, adesso ne ho acquistata un'altra quella che trovi in descrizione e oltre a non scaldare è stabile, non mi ha mai dato errori mentre la precedente praticamente spesso e funziona benissimo oltre che più economica. English: Lorenzo thanks for your feedback, I confirm that it's the sensitivity of the HP g2 VR viewer to the amperage, in fact if the exact current is not supplied it goes into error, maybe it can work but while running PC apps (games etc. ...) that require more power there is a drop and the Headset turns off, which I tried to solve with the previous PCI-e card but it was poor quality and reported errors or black out, now I have bought another, the one that you canfind in the description and in addition the card isn't heating and its able, it never gave me errors while the previous PCI-e card but it was poor quality and reported errors or black out, now I have bought another that you can find in the description and in addition to not heating is stable, it never gave me errors while the previous one practically often and works very well and it's more economic.

Thanks for the video..I also have the x570 and I am using an powered usb hub instead...it was working fine the first couple of times using it but it started crashing steamvr or not recognizing the headset the last time I was using it with blue screens and stuff ...are these pcie cards different then a powered usb hub? Because the usb hub is connected normally through the USB ports on my motherboard...I’m not sure what to do and if it will even help to buy the thing you suggested

Yes it's so different, and you don't use the motherboard usb, so it works, anyway sometime happens that it's not recognized but it's a mixed reality problem, you just have to unplug the power of reverb g2 and close mixed reality and plug again and open mixed reality again, just that

Arrivato oggi il G2, stesso problema. L assistenza mi ha detto di formattare e reinstallare win. Ma credo proverò spendere 20 euro per questa soluzione... Ho una z370 come scheda madre. Spero funzioni, ma evidentemente c è qualcosa che non va nel prodotto per arrivare a ciò....

Ti assicuro che formattare windows non serve a nulla parola di perito informatico, è solo un problema di sensibilità di corrente del visore, alcune schede madri come la mia Asus prima X570p darà qualcosina in meno e il visore non si accende, o almeno una parte si ma non abbastanza per essere funzionante, ecco perché l'errore, la scheda PCI-e alimentata risolve il problema.

I've been getting a 4-1 error no matter what ports I plug in, drivers I reinstall, doesn't matter, I bought a pcie usb c adapter since this stupid fucking company shipped it with a USB c port (a 3090 can barely run this thing apparently, I don't know why they thought the primary users of this headset were going to be laptop users) it's coming in the mail tomorrow, AMA I'll let you know how if I got it to work

Yep, and just to let you know i bought a Pimax Crystal light and even if was working with the normal usb ports then i got issues about being slow or shacking video, when i plugged on my usb hub powered it worked fine and i don't get issues anymore, so sounds that it's a motherboard issues especially with Asus
