How to solve PX5 Rockchip Android Auto heat issues forever Part 2 Fan

Your brand new PX5 Rockchip machine become laggy? Black screens? Your brand new Android 8 Oreo with an army of8 cores and 4 GB of RAM is unusable, instable? Like a good old junk?
Heat issues! Overheating! Boiling! Fire!
At least that's what happened to me with my brand new chinese unit. My CPU was struggling to execute commands at over 110 ° Celsius. So check your temperatures and install a fan and a heatsink. It’s easy and cost nearly nothing.

I used a scrap 8cm 12 volts PC fan, that I undervolted to 5 volts for noise reasons.
All the business cost me less than $ 2.
Now I can use the device with Malaysk’s rom as well as with stock Oreo rom.
With my heatsink installed in Part 1 of this video, on average I got about 20 ° celsius less, with the fan installed in Part 2, together with the heatsink I got at least 30 ° celsius less and the CPU in no throttled at all.
All tests were done at 19 degrees celsius. Fresh installations with only: Music, Gmaps, Waze, CPU/GPU Meter and CPU Throttling Test. More than 10 minutes of uncut tests!

Of course, did a trip of 300 km, so near 3 hours. Music & navigation, alternating wi-fi and 3g dongle connection and some live video streaming all the time. Got about 51 celsius degrees working temperature, without any stuttering or lag. So i think it is okay now.

If a stock Eonon Android 8 unit runs at 110 deg. C under CPU loading... that product should NOT have been released to the market, IMO. After viewing your video, I will definitely be monitoring my Pumpkin Android 8 unit (with PX5). At idle it runs around 50 deg. C... more testing to follow. May I ask: What features convinced you to buy the Eonon brand instead of a competing brand (Joying or Pumpkin)?

Right, this product should NOT have been released to the market without a proper factory cooling system. Good question, I choose this brand only because they do push marketing on facebook. Found their website, intuitive and stylish and they deliver from Europe to Europe, fast and without custom taxes. But in the end not a very good product.

Bravo! Urmeaza sa imi comand un Xtrons TE706PL, cam acelasi hardware inauntru, va avea MTCE_GS din cate am inteles. Daca voi avea probleme datorita tie voi sti ce sa verific/remediez. In rest multumit de chinezarie? Ai apucat sa folosesti waze? Mi se pare mai ok decat maps, cel putin la noi in tara.

Thank you! So first of all you have to connect the illumination wire (yellow in my case) to the car illumination wire, to automatically dim the display when you turn on the lights. Then go to settings/display/night display and adjust the night brightness from 20 to 100. Or try to download a night vision app from google play store. As you wish!

How's the device? Do you still use it? I want to get one myself and probably do the cooling as well. 1) How loud the fan is? Can you hear it while no music is on? 2) Is the device still running okay since 2018?

I installed a 40mm fan on my PX6 unit and it made a huge difference in temperatures and speed. Some apparently have fans on them already but others don't. There's not a good way to tell unfortunately since all sellers use the same images. Generally I like it, it's way better than the stock radio setup I had, but I'm disappointed that the PX6 is the best option available. Even with the 1024*600 screen and cool temperatures thanks to the fan it lags occasionally. I think it may be software related, but stock rom and Hal9k both have it for me. My budget phone scores similarly on benchmarks but feels way more smooth while also running at 1080p. If your car already has Android auto/carplay it isn't worthwhile imo. Otherwise go for it, but don't consider anything other than PX6. PX5 is really outdated at this point and the new AC8257 performs better for less money. It doesn't have the same dev community around it as these PX devices but I think being more modern will help the UI run more smoothly. Finally avoid 8227L devices or others not mentioned above. Apart from the Intel units and the ones mentioned above, none support sleep mode meaning you need to wait for Android to boot EVERY TIME you start the car. And since the processors inside are so slow once they finish 45 seconds of booting the UI is a laggy mess.

Hello. Am cumparat de curand un PX6 64/4GB si radiatorullui de matal care arata foate similar cu cel de la PX5 pare destul de firbinte cand e incarcat cu aplicatii - am testat cu Waze si KZbin la 720p. Ma gandesc sa pun doua heat pipes de cativa euro pe Aliexpress intre PX6 si capacul din partea de sus si sa inlocuiesc tot sau jumatate din capacul de metal cu un radiator de aluminiu si sa am doar racire pasiva. Prin partea de lume unde sunt ajunge temperatura vara in masina la 65 grade dupa ce sta la soare posibil sa nu mearga doar cu racire pasiva

Dmitry Redkin The fan had a bracket with a small voltage regulator. A potentiometer and some transistors maybe. I took out the bracket and keep the regulator with the potentiometer at minimum.

My fan come with a small voltage regulator (a bracket for PC case). I took off the regulator, a small 2*2cm box with a potentiometer, and I set it to minimum.
