Hey guys! I got a request to make this video from one of my friends a couple of weeks back, so I decided that I'd try it out. I don't know if it will help you though - only you can decide that :) I hope that this does give you a better understanding of what is required though, to solve the First 2 Layers of a 3x3 in less than 10 seconds.

Wow, that makes my life a lot easier, I usually just solve that part when the white is next to the edge piece by seperating them both, then either connecting them and slotting it the correct area or just slotting it (also was inspired by you solving the cube underwater so while I was in the pool yesterday I decided to give it a go, and I somehow did it without suffocating to death. Happy happy.)😃 After watching some more videos the time it takes for you to solve the 4x4 is about the same as me solving the 3x3.

@joelhibbert4113

@HeyLuke

Great video! I don't like the trick/alg which goes F (U R U' R')2 U F. Why not go L U2 L2 U' L2 U' L ? It's 4 moves shorter and maybe a little easier to pull off with the double turns. The two tricks before that are actually great though! I'll definitely try to work them into my F2L routine.

I have gotten to a point where I average around 22 seconds. I do use finger tricks during F2l, and feel like I have decent solutions to F2L cases as I see them, but I simply don't know how to improve. I know 2-look OLL and (almost) full PLL. (I think I am decent on my last layer). I can occasionally get sub-20, but not consistently, and I have a PB of 14.95. I really want to break the 20 second average barrier, but am having a hard time figuring out what I should do... Any suggestions?
@joelhibbert4113
@joelhibbert4113 Жыл бұрын
Hi! The sub 20 barrier! This was a painful barrier for me to break too! I got stuck at a 20-23 second average for about 3 months before I just suddenly improved. Here's my biggest suggestion: use look ahead. I broke through the 20 second barrier by starting to really concentrate on using look ahead when solving. I would NOT look at the F2L pair that I was doing, and instead, as I solved that pair, I would look around for my next pair. JPerm has many awesome videos on F2L, I really recommend watching those 😄 Also, feel free to send me some videos of your solves - I'm more than happy to look at them and give you some tips! Good luck breaking the barrier dude! You've got this!!!

Hey there! Thank you very much! 😄 Using advanced F2L and getting such high times can be pretty discouraging - I'm speaking from experience here. I learnt a LOT of super clever F2L cases and tricks to try and get sub 10 and I was barely manging to get 12 second solves. So I know how you feel. My advice to you would be to do some slow solves and actually check and see if your F2L is fluid, or if your finger tricks are awkward and difficult to execute. The faster your F2L gets, the faster your solve gets, guaranteed. If you'd like, I'd be more than happy to watch some of your solves and give some feedback, sort of like a critique. Whatever works best for you! All the best for improving!

@joelhibbert4113
@joelhibbert4113 10 ай бұрын
Dude that was me! I was in exactly the same boat as you were, and when I watched JPerms critique video on the sub 10 cubers, I was absolutely astonished to see my F2L was even MORE advanced than theirs was! I was so confused! Like surely I should've been sub 10 if my F2L was better than theirs was, right? Well, turns out after some experimenting that the time it took me to do the rotation less F2L tricks took me roughly 0.5-1.5 seconds longer than it'd take to just do the simple solution WITH a rotation. Additionally, by rotating at that point in the solve, you're going to be saving rotations later in your solve if you do it right. Long story short, the super clever tricks we can use aren't the best way to solve the F2L cases - that is why your F2L is stabbing you in the back. I hope this helps! All the best dude!

3:16 No one does that they just do normal beginner’s method second edge insertion before they learn the sledgehammer and even that isn’t advanced at all. Maybe like advanced beginner. No but like I literally died watching that that’s beginner’s method 6:21 No it doesn’t that’s normal and I’m sub-20 Idek about sub-17 💀💀💀💀 6:50 bro nah that was do inefficient just do R L’ U R’ L or just M F M’ at that point. Like actually though you don’t need to move the pair over on top and then bring the right down and then insert it in the left with an inverse sexy. Just bting the left slot up right then and there, put it in, and bring both down, but yeah that’s obviously just an M move ofc: 8:33 Yeah nahh that’s normal not bizarre 8:56 Yeah Ik that one and Idk if I would call that a trick it’s just how to solve that case 2 gen

Whoops, sorry for killing you with that first case 😂 You have very good points man! In regards to the first part where you died, I never learnt it that way - I used to do such a bad way and so that's why I have included it. In regards to the 6:15 comment, that's a pretty fancy thing I used to do but I've since learnt it's faster to use R or L moves vs M and F moves in F2L. That fingertrick I showed at 8:33 is pretty bizarre, you're right. But it works 😂 Tha is for the comment! I enjoyed seeing the points you brought up

Nah, that's all good man! And from another point of view, it could be argued that just solving cubes over and over could be a waste of time, but hey, this kind of wasting time beats TV, gaming and anything in between the whole way 😆 (Not to me tion it can be an amazing party trick! 😉)
