I really enjoyed the animation part of the video! Great job, as always Mapal! However, I think it would be even better if the sounds from Resolve were included from the beginning and if you could explain your sound selection principles in more detail, as well as editing on a sub-frame level. Your tutorial is beginner-friendly, but it would be great if you could introduce some more advanced concepts like you do in your After Effects tutorials. ✨

Thank you for the feedback, it is always welcomed! I initially had it in there but it felt very chaotic on playback. Hindsight, it probably would’ve been more useful to have the sounds in there. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for next time.

In videos people often overestimate the power of visuals & underestimate the value of sound.

Loved the tutorial! Since it was sound design focused, would've liked more insight on your thought process on choosing the sounds and hearing them simultaneously as you. Seeing you add sfx and then only hearing the final result didn't optimise the value I could get from this. But the animation part was fab!
@mapal8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! When I was editing I was debating whether to leave the audio for when I looked through the sounds etc and I ended up not doing it. It felt chaotic in the playback with me talking + a bunch of different sounds. That’s why I added the little bit about how I choose the sounds beforehand to give some context. The feedback is much appreciated and I’ll definitely keep it in mind for the next one!

@@mapal appreciate your insights. Thanks for responding! I have been following your content obsessively and have learnt a great deal of AE following your tutorials. One request Id like to make is a sound design session solely focused on designing for infographics and motion design like vox, Ali Abdaal, etc. The usual sfx tutorials focus on cinematic sfx like hits and atmospheric sounds, etc. It would also help to understand what types of sounds are there - airy, fire, etc etc and what to use when. Thanks again!

hey Mapal , I'm really considering subscribing to your patreon even though i'm not a fan of after effects i use davinci resolve's fusion , why don't you use it , i recommend you trying it , the most beneficial thing is that it's inside davinci
@mapal8 ай бұрын
If you do end up subscribing I'd love to get some feedback of what you want to see more of in there. As far as Fusion goes I just don't think it brings more value to me at this point in my career. Workflow might be easier in some aspects but the limitations and learning curve aren't worth it for me at this point in time.

@mapal8 ай бұрын
He uses a lot of different types of music to set the tone. I’ve heard some electronic/trap, classical, corporate, ambient. Lots of different tracks and probably also played with the EQ and Semi-tones to get the right feel.

Yeah that one is on me. I originally had it a lot longer but ended up cutting a lot of me looking for sounds etc, which looking back, was a mistake. The title of the video is misleading... this is a tutorial on how to animate a 3D cube in AE. Only 6 out of the 30 min video are focused on sound design and even in those 6 minutes there is barely anything useful. We can't even hear what you are doing so it's 6 mins of teaching people how to use the search bar on a stock site and place sounds on the timeline...
@mapal8 ай бұрын
Very fair point and thank you for the feedback. Looking back I realise I should’ve included more of searching for the sounds/explaining in more detail and also kept the audio from that. That’s on me and I’ll definitely keep it in mind for next time!
