How to sound like Eddie Van Halen for cheap

Most can halen is tuned to Eb so make sure your a half step down if you wanna play with record

I have an Origin 20, a Marshall cab and a DS-1. For fun I matched your settings and tried it out. It's probably the most "amp-like" distortion that I've gotten through this amp head with pedals. So yeah, I approve this message!

Very good sound for the first album. I have a 1987xl Marshall and a strait cab. I use a variac to lower the voltage to around 90V. Sounds just like the first album but the cost for my set up now a days is about 3200.00.

Was interesting this vid, i'd have preferred to have heard the rig with the DS-1 turned off then see the difference the DS-1 was making. That said it sounded decent and DS-1's usually thin n fizzy so the amp must've been doing something to warm it up somewhat!

Whilst also playing a guitar that's more expensive than Eddie's cheap low end stratocaster, which he subsequently mangled... I mean modded lol I love SG's though. Iommi and Angus are the reason I started playing... And I have yet to find anything an SG doesn't work for. Btw I've been able to get a similar "brown sound" with a 99 SG standard and 2020 Vox Valvetronix

great tone my friend, I just ordered a turbo distortion from boss. It"s a different ds 1 pedal but from what I have heard on the web it has the same kind of tone with a more push in gain. Have you experienced this pedal?

Feel is the only way to get some 9f bends right, also. Bending to a semitone, or microtone, happens a lot more often than people think.

personally i use high gain channel with a distortion pedal but i dont have a marshall but ive used one and it works about the same but as far as i know eddie never really used distortion pedals he just used the amp but good luck dont give up

dont drive a clean channel with a distortion use a gained signal and boost and shape the sound with the pedal

Ed had no effects except a flanger, phase90 and an echoplex. Eds Destryer on VHI did not have a Floyd. That dous'nt sound like ED and you should learn the songs.

His tone is damn close to the first album's sound. Ed's sound had the echo going on most of the time as an ambient part of is tone as well as being reverbed to the gills. If Koby had added some ambient effects he'd be there.

On VH1 he had reverb hardpaned in one speaker and guitartone in the other. I think this tone i good for vh and it would sertenly sound Moore like it tru the same mixingconsol and miked right in that studio they used
