That's nothing like how you get either Angus or Malcolm. I suspect your confusing a valve output stage with a transistor amp like the katana, you can't get a saturated sound by turning a transistor amp up to max vol, that's not how they work. The master volume does nothing to the tone in a transistor amp, other than add unpleasant distortion if yih over do it. So, for a Katana you need to use the crunch setting to mimic rhythm on a plexi. Gain about 2, and amp vol to max. This is simulating the plexi amp settings. You can adjust the amp out EQ to make it sound like a 4x12 cab and I use a tube screamer boost to mimic the schaffer radio system boost for the Angus tones. I don't use any amp in EQ because I play a gretsch and and SG for each of their parts so I don't need to mimic the guitar tone. Rock the fk on!

I love my boss katana cause it can simulate a tube amp very well cuase yoy xan strum light with it on a distorted channel or effects and harder you strum more distorted it gets and reacts to tone and volume knobs like a tube amp as well. Its my go to practice and bamd practice amp the mkii50 i use my marshall vintage modern full stack live o jave had since i was 13 and got it when they forst came out on the market. I used your settings and with my Epiphone lespaul 59 custom it sounds spot on with a few small changes to adapt kt to my pickups not much. And with my jackson soloist hsh in slime green they call it sounds amazing for kick start my heart and kther songs. That the two guitars i only ise live and they work oerfect for 80s hair metal and classic rock

Thanks bro. I have the same Boss Kitana mk11 50. I could use help finding the right tones for Sabbath, ZZTop also. I’m struggling with it lol. If you could I’d really appreciate it. Thanks. Rob. Ontario Canada

I have an Origin 20, a Marshall cab and a DS-1. For fun I matched your settings and tried it out. It's probably the most "amp-like" distortion that I've gotten through this amp head with pedals. So yeah, I approve this message!

They used only enough distortion where when he would say power chords or pick harder it would be distorted and when he picks soft it's clean like hells bells his picking is what he used only to switch from clean to distortion and other songs like that he uses clean and distortion he doesn't turn a pedel on

Sounds pretty good but way more gain than any Marshall Plexi would deliver, my guitar with push these settings way over the limit because I play with Duncan Distortion pickups. If you want to get really close to that Marshall Plexi sound that Angus used... go with the crunch Channel instead with the gain at about 9 or 10 oclock and if use any of the Boost settings use the Marshall Guv'nor ... Angus also used a lot more mids and his EQ. Just listen to the intro to Thunderstruck, it is soaked with mids.

This is a really good approximation of the BM sound. I would think if had gone through some recording software you could have smoothed it out a bit and got it spot on. But that's not the point of your excellent vid. Well done sir

Well, you are close to what he sounds like on Too fast for Love and on Shout at the Devil; By shout album he is using multiple racks he is going threw ,, so there is no way to nail his sound without him showing what he used .. By shout he was also starving the Marshalls and Soldano slo amps at around 95 volts .. which makes breakup with tubes come much earlier then normal voltage . He learned this from multiple Guitar players from the late 70's. Mick even back then was going threw much more equipment then most players.. Eventide stuff they made just for Mick .. But your close with the little Katana ...

too much distortion...... the secret to the Sweet Home Alabama sound is that it's very Clean with some Compression on it to fatten the sound. NOT A CRUNCH SETTING AT ALL. Just trying to help you out. There's a difference between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Megadeth.....

I’m trying to dial that in on my Roland Micro Cube GX. It has really good clean sounds. I’ve been on the Marshall setting but trying to figure out the tone/reverb/gain settings. It’s an older SS amp and would appreciate any advice on the Sweet Home Alabama sound profile on this. It’s only got Gain, Tone and two (both volume and master) volume knobs. I put some very slight reverb and I feel I’m close, not sure about the tone and gain though?
