Appetite for destruction is why I play guitar and play a les paul...Slash is awsome but I love izzys playing and songwriting. Slash and izzys style was alot like the rolling stones, 2 guitars weaving back and forth and complmenting one another. Alot of people don't realize , izzy wrote alot of there greatest stuff.......

Izzy and Slash were a great combo. The real heart of the band. 👍

Can you release a isolated track just for the Slash parts? I think its the first time in my life I see someone actually nail the tone.
@ShredHeads
@ShredHeads 3 жыл бұрын
I can share the isolated track I recorded but it's just the short intro you hear in the video. The original slash recorded parts have never been officially released. Just make sure to subscribe and I'll share it with you. Our contact info can be found on our KZbin page. 👍

You can hear it any time, just go to Eddy Lenz's YT channel. He also can make you a mod to your sc20h or sv20h to sound exact the same like the record. The original amp what Slash used was modded by Frank Levi. It was a plexi.

I do the same thing…. talk about one band but wear a shirt of another. Anyway, great explanation for the tones. Mixing 2 guitar tones does magic to making your own.
@ShredHeads

Yeah, GNR was kind of unique for blending two different tones and approaches to their rhythm sound. Most bands just quad track a single part and don't do as much layering and arrangements.

@@ShredHeads I agree. I play through a JVM but found the 666 EQ setting gets me close but I will turn up my presence when I jam with my band playing anything by GnR, LA Guns or AIC. I mention Alice In Chains just cuz I feel some songs have a similar tone.

@@nerffyb7298 I get it, I just highlighted izzy's importance a bit more in the video because he is often over looked as well. Tons of videos about GNR but they rarely mention izzy's influence on the band.

The Mystic Studio sounds more like early AC/DC, Thin Lizzy or the Stones... imagine that for the final record, crunch city!

Izzy was the true songwriter of the band. Alan Niven said and i always agree izzy left that was it not guns was not special anymore . There best years 85 to 90
@ShredHeads

Guns N Roses didn't do much after 91. They fall into the category of bands that were great but only for a short period. If GNR was playing in my city unless the tickets were free or ten bucks or so I wouldn't go. They aren't the same band and aren't really worth seeing.

Great playing but play les paul type guitar into a marshall type amp is advice a non olayer cluld probably tell you, i agree you should dial by ear but a ball park startung eq would help a bunch

You’d be surprised. Many young players don’t know much about high end gear. a lot of my students don’t know what a Marshall is or a Les Paul type guitar. It isn’t until they really get into guitar that they start knowing about different brands and so on.

Izzy made them sound very special different and is why appetite for destruction best album ever. Use ur illusions sucked compared to appetite. No raw edgy sound also way they miked illusions sucked compared to way izzy and slash sound was on appetite

Izzy made the band great for sure, although Izzy wrote a good amount of songs on the Illusion albums. I believe he even recorded the songs but left soon after, before the band went on tour.

why nobody didnt tallks about izzys tone! this vid is pointless evrybody knows slash tone is marshall and lespaul and you talk about ths abot 8 min ! Studio gear no talk, guitar gear no talk just slash, effests eq no talk, settings mikes no talk,cmon man! need better content, i get closer just google it. only intresting thing the 5 sec two guitar part. anyway you sound good tho!

I will revisit this tone like I state in the video. I will likely talk about Izzy's tone at some point but it's hard to find credible sources on his tone. Finger tone and arrangements are just as important as what gear was used on the record. If you are referring to what studio gear, mic's and eq's were used on the record the only person that would know that for sure would be Mike Clink, the engineer of the album. The video is not pointless, I teach guitar and many of my students like slash, but don't know much about Les Pauls and Marshall amps, often asking me what amps and guitars they should buy to get a similar sound. I understand if you have been playing for many years and like slash a lot it's certainly not new information, but it is too young and beginning players.

@@ShredHeads yeah man! no offense! like your channel ,playing, sound! But i find this vid and want to watch because it said "how to sound like apetite" and no real information beside the two layers of guitars. And if im a beginenr your only advice is get british style, get a lespaul, use any cab, use any settings, use any mic, thats what i mean it pointless. And a real beginener dont rush to buy a signature slash marshall for a grand. Basiclly you dont said anything how a beginner can reach this tone on an ibz gio and a pratice amp. dont want to argue ,will follow, looking forward your next cheers!

@@RobcsiMobcsi I can respect your opinion and any constructive feedback is welcome. Just understand if you criticize me I will reply and try to plead my side of it. The advise I give in the video is solid. Getting a Les Paul style guitar and a British style amp is solid advise as to what to buy. There are plenty of cheap Marshalls and cheap Les Paul style guitars that a beginner could afford to buy. Not every beginner has an Ibanez or a just a practice amp. Even if they did, no amount of advise from me would help, because that set-up would just never sound even close to slash, no matter what you did. If I made a video about that Ibanez beginner set-up, that would be a pointless video. Talking about Izzy's importance to the band and his guitar parts, talking about the amp's and guitars that were used on the record, as well as other gear you could buy that is similar to what was used on the record to achieve a similar tone, if you are on a budget, are all things that can help people "sound like appetite". If this video wasn't useful to you then hopefully the next one might be more informative or interesting to you. Take care.
