The tip of replicating a track and then using EQ for rolling off to focus on only the frequencies you want to emphasize is gold.

Hey man...just crop a vocal sample to the bit you like, load that little sound into a sampler and write your riff as per usual.

I perceive the ghost snippet to be in G minor, and the chord progression starts from VI, which is Eb in the key of G minor.

If the key was Eb, the II chord would be F minor. So I think my perceived G minor is the most natural key that fits the facts, not only the "feel" of the key. Just imagine which chord would dissolve all tension as the final chord i.e. I. To my ear it is definitely Gm.

Ville Oikarinen agreed, however it is not D# :))) as it means to have all double sharps except F and C, which literally means Eb or as you just said G minor. Cheers man!
