I am a grown Zulu man, however I have not been taught in isiZulu. I have asked many to teach me I just get laughed at. I am glad I found you. I can speak fairly well. I however need to learn to write and read it. I struggle with confidence in this area. Funny thou how I don't have confidence issues in different settings

Yes almost everywhere like when going on public transportation like a taxi your expected to speak Isizullu. Pluse it's a language most can understand however there are some places where people may not understand Isizulu cause there are many languages other than isizulu

Hello from the UK! My husband and I have started learning Zulu today as he grew up in SA and we are planning on moving there in a few years! I love your videos! Simple, easy to understand. Keep it basic and just you and the camera! I find too many videos with lots of singing and dancing and flashy things too distracting! When im watching your videos, I'm just watching you and listening to the words. GREAT start and so glad I found you Thando! X

Decided i want to learn a native language I live in Pretoria, so is it best to learn Zulu or should i try to learn Northern Sotho rather? My school offers Sepedi, but i'm Afrikaans in an English school so that's naturally a good mark for my report. They don't offer it as a third language anymore and i was keen to take it, so please help and confirm if Zulu is worth learning for me🙏
@ZuluLessonswithThando4 жыл бұрын
Hello Jan, you will have to find out from people in your area. Do they not offer SeTswana? That would be a great option. Imagine being able to speak to most people in your Province! IsiZulu is always handy if SeTswana is not offered in school.
@SkepticalTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Jan, you should learn it anyway, because it is similar to so many other languages. Like if you learn French, Spanish is then easier because of the similarities.

@@ZuluLessonswithThando Thank you for your response. I am Spanish, I love languages and I really like isiZulu. I consider it “very African”, and one of the traits that I find interesting are tones. Languages are usually processed in our left brain hemisphere, and tones are processed in our right hemisphere, so they make our brain work harder!. There are lexical tones, such as in Chinese, where you learn each word with its tone, but in bantu languages, as far as I know, tones are both lexical and grammatical, making them quite difficult to learn. Very few bantu languages indicate tones in their script, one of them is Lingala. It would be great to indicate them, it would make it much easier for us to learn any of these languages, because otherwise, I feel that I do not have access to an important trait of the language. Thank you
